The Tone Junkies: In Your Face Punk
The Tone Junkies is a four-piece Orange County punk band. Lead singer Dave Lagger describes the band as "in your face punk rock and roll." Listening to their songs, I can't say I disagree. The band members play with a straightforward, all-out assault on their instruments. Check out "It's Not Me" for a good example of the band's style. This would be a good example of the oomph found on
Radio Free Bakersfield.
The band plays in its native Orange County, as well as Los Angeles, San Diego, and the Inland Empire. In less than three years since the band formed, The Tone Junkies has had the opportunity to play with Agent Orange, Angry Samoans, and others. Among the others on that list is legendary Orange County band Social Distortion. "Playing with Social D was quite an accomplishment. We are huge fans and grew up listening and idolizing them." Indeed. I am certain most OC punk bands would be more than thrilled to play with Social Distortion.
So what can you expect from a show of The Tone Junkies? Dave Lagger says, "At one of our shows you can expect passion, a ton of energy and loud layered guitars as well as lots of backsides shaking." What more can you ask from a band at a gig? Just listen to the songs, and you'll realize that if they bring as much energy to the stage as they do to the studio, you are in for a really good show.
The band's debut album Loadavated is available through CD Baby. If you've been looking for some punk to add to your collection, you'll want to pick this one up.
