Current mood: hopeful
Well, this morning, I went to see my doc for yet another "face-to-face" meeting (which is required by Medicare before I can get my power wheelchair). Apparently, if you allow the signed paperwork to sit dormant for 45 days...you have to START ALL OVER AGAIN AT THE BEGINNING. (sigh).
**(I suspect that when the jerk from "National Mobility" realized he had EXCEEDED that 45 day time limit...he went into his computer and "cancelled" my order...TO COVER HIS OWN ASS with his boss.)**
Sooooo, here I am...starting all over again with yet another company called "A Plus Mobility". If I'm lucky, and this NEW company DOESN'T JERK ME AROUND...I might just get my power wheelchair by CHRISTMAS.
Everyone keep your fingers crossed!
My Weekend: consisted of my big brother driving over (from Conway) to visit for the weekend, my oldests sister's 60th birthday on Oct. 23rd...and a SUBSTITUTE for my regular caregiver.
The substitute turned out to be someone who used to work for Sparks Home Heath back when I first got sick, and used to come to my house 2 or 3 times a week (to bathe me).
My parents LIKE "Mary" and my mom seems to want me to see if I can drop my current caregiver and switch to "Mary". But there is JUST NO WAY IN HELL THAT'S EVER GONNA HAPPEN!
See, I had a REALLY TRAUMATIC experience with that woman, involving being FORCED...against my will...into the SHOWER. I was in SEVERE pain that day and REPEATEDLY REFUSED...but she (and my parents) COMPLETELY IGNORED ME. As I tried to tell her to LEAVE ME ALONE and NOT TO TOUCH ME...she proceeded to THROW my ass into my wheelchair, and then TOSS my ass INTO THE SHOWER! While I sat there, CRYING UNCONTROLLABLY, she poured water over my head.
**At age 40, I am THE BOSS--NOT my parents--and my caregiver is SUPPOSED to LISTEN to ME!**
It was the MOST PAINFUL and TRAUMATIC experience I've EVER been thru in my life...(she wound up bending my knees in a way they just DO NOT bend!). I SCREAMED AT THE TOP OF MY LUNGS when she bent my knees up into my chin. Then, when it was FINALLY OVER.SHE (and my parents) had the NERVE to say..."Now, that wasn't so bad, was it?"..
I've NEVER GOTTEN OVER THAT! In fact, I used to have dreams about that woman...HOLDING my HEAD UNDERWATER...TRYING to DROWN ME! (I STILL have that dream once in a while).
Also, her regular speaking voice is EXTREMELY LOUD. So, everytime she speaks to me...I JUMP 5 FEET IN THE F-ING AIR! And did I mention that, on Friday, she ONCE AGAIN BENT MY KNEES IN DIRECTIONS THEY JUST AREN'T SUPPOSED TO GO, while trying to put me in my wheelchair?!
The thing is, the woman STILL SCARES THE LIVING SHIT OUTTA ME...and I WILL NEVER HAVE HER AS MY REGULAR CAREGIVER! NEVER!
I was SO HAPPY to see my regular caregiver walk thru that door this morning!
