I have been a BAD GIRL.
But I have also been very very busy.  After two great years in Europe, I have over the past three months slowly moved home to the United States.  This means dealing with the mundane details of life, like banking and stroage of music equipment, finding an apartment (no easy thing in New York), and buying stuff like mops and rags and bathroom cleaners.  All this to say I have NOT updated my website, or MYSPACE, which I guess is tatamount to taking a knife to my stomach according to some of the emails I have received.  My life moves much faster than my ability to update.  But I am still playing and recording.

NOVEMBER
I am currently in Germany, where I have sold out a bunch of cities which is a GREAT thing to see.  I am also finishing my second record in December and January. I will book some shows, and continue writing. And I will make a new year resolution to be more of a technofile. Love heather

About 10 Days ago I had the GREAT experience of playing with a full STRING QUARTET Live on WFUV in New York with John Platt.  I'm still trying to find the streaming archive online, and will post it as soon as I can. And as you will soon hear, this isn't just any quartet -- these are the Tosca Strings out of Austin Texas -- some of the most lush and exciting string players around. My new producer whipped (yes, "whipped") together some string parts for some of my new tunes in addition to some of the older songs and the sound blew me away.  That is the good news. The bad news is now I need to find a way to get to TEXAS to record them, and at the moment I am sitting in cold and rainy Scotland.
May/June/July
GERMANY was fantastic, the second tour there in 6 months -- it was fun to travel around with some new Berlin Buddies and play oddball venues with the most lovely people in attendance to watch and listen to us.  Most memorable moment was selling out a club in Rostock, way in the North, and then sleeping in an old chapel which rents out little rooms.  Five Star?  No.  Cool?  Yeah...kind of.  My Berlin audience grew and it was so gratifying to see such a postitive change within 6 months.  It means that I'm doing the right things -- indicators in a challenging musical environment that persistence really can start to pay off.
NEW YORK CITY's Radio station WFUV will host the TOSCA STRING QUARTET and I this June on a live broadcast in anticipation for our Joe's Pub gig on June 19th.  I've never played with a full quartet before, but these women are beautiful, talented, fun, and good friends -- this should outweigh any nervousness I have, which is only natural for such a full-sounding performance.  I will also stretch and bring some pedal steel in for this show, as well as my trusty-old Vintage Wurlitzer that my Drummer's brother AL GORI found in the street in New Jersey.  It even has shiny chrome legs.
Spring
NEW YORK producer Dennis Martin and I have been working together on tracks for a new record -- this time around incorporating drum loops, pads, and other secret sounds in addition to pedal steel, wurlitzer, bass, vocals, and drums.  The sound gets better and better each time we work on it, which is a good sign, don't you think?  For more info on NEW MATERIAL contact info@heathergreene.com.  The world is wide open with this one...
