Here's a how-to/how-not-to guide to getting a show booked at the Blue Moon.

I do all of my business at my home via e-mail, so calling the bar to talk to me or approaching me while I'm working are pointless endeavors. Click back, then click on “send message.”

You have to have a web presence. No demo CDs will be accepted.

ALL BAND MEMBERS MUST BE OF LEGAL DRINKING AGE. It's a bar, silly. Also, on a related note, yes, it really is illegal for bars to host musicians under the age of 18. I don't care if other venues do it. It's not happening here.

It's fine if you play open mic on a regular basis, but it won't get you a show on a Thursday, Friday, or Saturday. People won't pay for what they can get for free. Neither will I.

Thursday shows are strictly limited to three bands a night. I can do four bands on a Friday or Saturday, but it has to be worth everyone's time and make for an extra special bill.

I do host out of town bands but tend to be selective about it. You should at least have a handful of local pals you can draw.

I don't book reggae bands.  Seriously, no reggae.  It's not happening.

Anything else is fair game.
