In the 90s we had rock. Some of us grew up listening to Stone Temple Pilots and Filter and the amazing bands of that era. The new millennium came, and it seemed that real music died with the changing of the time. I was an STP fan. I'm young and I got into music as it was dying. I was a Filter fan and a rock fan. Then, certain groups disbanded and disappeared and everyone learned to listen to a different style of music or live in the past. Years passed and the super group was born and the rumors came. Filter and STP coming together? I didn't know how I felt. Even when I started to work for them, I didn't know how it would turn out. My first interactions with the band were at in stores and in the studio, priceless experiences for a music fan like myself, I will remember those days for the rest of my life. And my nerves were calmed, but I hadn't seen anything yet....

In the last two nights, all of my doubts were shattered. In their first ever shows in southern California, Army of Anyone tore thru Anaheim and Hollywood and left the fans waiting and screaming for more. Never will you see or meet a nicer group of men who define the word rock star. They are talented, stellar, finely tuned musicians. They were born to sing, born to strut, born to own the stage. The last two nights of shows proved it. The crowds were full of a perfect mix of older fans who had followed Stone Temple Pilots and Filter and new fans who can see beyond the glitz of pop punk and are yearning for real music. They were served guitar riffs, REAL drum work, and hard kick ass in-your-face rock music. Army of Anyone played some originals opening with Doesn't Seem To Matter and the hard hitting Father Figure. They threw in old favorite classic singles like Vasoline, Down, Big Bang Baby, Take a Picture and of course, Hey Man Nice Shot, along with a Led Zeppelin cover that only the phenomenal DeLeo brothers could pull off. Not only do they bring a skill to the stage that most popular bands of today lack, but they bring their love of music and a camaraderie that takes years to build and cannot be faked. They are comfortable, they play well off of each other and they truly appreciate and enjoy their fans, and each other and it shows. Those lucky enough to get into the meet and greets are pleasantly surprised by how down to earth, personable and friendly each guy is. Richard, Robert, Ray and Dean take the time to visit with every fan that is in the room. They are genuine and they are humble. And one day, they'll be on top again. It's an exciting time... :)

So on behalf of the band, thank you! I know they've having fun and they appreciate all of the fans so much, more than you know. They are having the time of their lives and this band is AMAZING!! I'm proud to be a fan and proud to be your intern. :) I'll be your eyes and ears. If you haven't caught a show yet, you're missing out, see them soon! And spread the word, because ROCK IS BACK!

Hell yeah nice review.........

Yeah I guess a lot of us learn to live in the past and to listen to bands that are not on the radio.  There is so many great albums out there to listen to.  But there were some great bands if you looked hard enough.  They just did not get the air play.  It seems not things are starting to heat up again.  There is a lot of good albums coming out now or just came out.  AoA, audioslave revalations, the new chris cornell solo, velvet revolver libertad, etc....

I am waiting on the new gnr still but dont have my hopes up too high.

The burden brothers put out a great second album.

I am still waiting for monster mangnet to release their next new album.  Still waiting on Dave to get it going again.

Rumored Van Halen reunion with Roth.... but now rumored not to happen... so it is up in the air.

There just seems to be a lot more rock going on lately.  Not only the reunion shows but new bands coming out and the supergroups.  This is all good stuff.

I even hear AC DC will come out will a new album sooner or later.

Poison has a new covers album they are working on right now if you like hair metal.

Black Sabbath are going on tour with Down.

Down is coming out with a new album number III.

Oh yeah smashing pumpkins got a new album coming out and are touring......!!!!! yeah...

If people arent convinced see them live and you will see some true ROCK STARS and a damn good show. Keep on Rocking :)

My friends and I went to the Chicago show and the vibe was unbelievable.  It was funny, a few weeks after the show my friend and I were listening to the CD and we just started smiling.  We are married and have jobs and have mortgages etc... and that night for 2 hrs you guys took us back to our Camaros and our Mustangs and just cruising.... cranking Filter, STP, some Soundgarden ....now that is what music is about and I hope you guys have as much fun making it as we did taking it in from the fans perspective....and what nice guys we were actually standing right next to Dean and Ray during the opening act.........Thanks guys........come back to the Midwest soon....

Well put, sister.  I think I wore out my STP CD's and made several feeble attempts to play their tunes on my guitar!  And, you're right that the boys are very approachable.  Dean was very sweet to this fan girl (I'll treasure that hug forever!).  AOA are amazing, and I'm so happy I saw them at the Key Club in Hollywood.  I'll be wearing out that CD for sure!!

Right on...Right On!! Perfect description. The guys were bad ass from the first night here in Houston for the Sno Core Tour, I can't imagine how much more the show kicks ass now, especially being closer to home and at home. Hope to see them again soon, can't wait for more from them.

Very well said. The music of the 90's is timeless....bands like STP, Filter, Tonic, Alice In Chains, Soundgarden, ect...they're STILL on the radio and they always will be........this new wave power punk pop 10th grader vocal is an obvious fad... I doubt that bands like SUM 41 or My Chemical Romance will be on the radio 10 years from now....or a year from now. Musicianship has gone out the window these days, & I'm glad to see bands like AOA, VR, Godsmack, Pearl Jam, Cornell & Co keeping the soul alive in rock music today. Remember bands like King's X, Helmet,  and Faith No More..? TIMELESS!! Guitar solos, well orchestrated tunes, & relate-able lyrics & melodies......'nuf said! Great album lads.

I was at the Sunset Key Club show and I loved it. They are by far my new favorite band. Even though their album just came out not long ago, I can't wait to hear their next. I was very pleased to see how humble and nice they are. From the stage all of them even signed a guitar pick gard that was thrown into the crowd. I thought that was very classy. You can tell that they really enjoy their fans unlike the many fly by night bands that the current industry has been pumping out in volumes. I've been telling all my friends from around the country about them.......keep it up guys.

I was there in Hollywood as the music died. My band CIRCUS dominated the strip in 90&91. Sold out shows and fun times!! I actually used to host the Miss Gazzari dancer contest when Bill was alive (Now the Key Club)! Now I am a Pastor in Houston but I am still rockin'! I just had Skillet at my church and it was incredible!! You guys really sound great!

Are you KIDDING ME? (...to the last poster...)
You still have ANY faith in G'N'R ?????
THAT qualifies as "too much", sonny.
But I godda commend your persistence, I guess....???

Rock & Roll will NEVER 'die'. It's the industry that took a huge shit. (radio AND records)
maybe getting the g/d devil incarnate OUT of the w.h. next year will swing things back in the right direction...(corporate mongering freakhead mass media manipulating monopoly maggots!)
...speaking of glomming onto a thin rope of hope...LOLOL

This review is so true. Talent like theirs can't be faked. The DeLeo brothers are one of a few musicians that give me hope that music will become honest again. Bands like Nickelback and Puddle of mud should never have seen the light of day. Because of the severe lack of musical purity and Big Business Monopolies these bands were allowed to surface. 'Homogenized' followed by 'Unoriginal' equal 'Puke'!
