In 1984, there was a comic entitled The Ballad of Halo Jones"
(The wikipedia info page) Actually this was probably what really got me locked into Scifi, and not just passively looking at scifi literature and movies. But anywyas, I had found this graphic novel at the Laney colledge fleamarkey (swapmeet for those who do't like fleas!) At at table for a cuck..Which ment that the sellers were either getting rid of stolen merch, or they were tired of being in the sun.
But as I was saying, this book was one of those that had survived the the first waves of pickthroughs before I arrived, and was just beckoning to me. So I ended up dropping maybe 5 or 10$ at that table and went merrily on my way to the next fleamarket finds. So when I had time I checked out my finds, paged through a few of the other books I purchases with the great old paragraph technique. Which is just simply reading the first page to see which one I was going to read first...And then it happened.
I found myself entrapped with this story! It was simply brilliant. another true science fiction gem. I mean who wouldn't want to have a robot dog with a superior A.I that made HAL seem like he was nothing more than a non scientific calclator! It's got everything a good scifi should have, strong character who pretty much uses her brain and THINKS before she leaps. Hehehee
Damn it, this is one of those movies I WOULD cheer to see. besides retarded stuff like remakes of Hairspray,Fame and the other loads of crappy movies simply there to suck the intelligence and soul right out of your body!!
I think i'm a little jaded when it comes to the lifeless, and quite vapid waste of both valuale electricity and computing power that's wsted on craptastic films that are basicly remakes or someone's idea and ego that since it's already made they can make it better. Is why I am finding myself watching more and more independent films.
Hmmm but I think i've ranted enough for the moment. It still just makes me shake my head that ournalisim, REAL journalisim is dying. Yes I still do a wonderful job of my punctuation when I voice my opinion but that's just because English sticks to my brain as well as an egg to a brand new non-stick frypan! But I suppose that's another rant for anything time hehee.
