It's three weeks into rehearsals and I'm enjoying every bit. (Show is August 30th 2008!) I never thought I would be in the position I'm in today. At times, it really seems surreal. It took some time for me to accept the fact that I would not be apart of the Ensemble Theatre this year. I honestly thought that was the place for me. Well, I thought so until God spoke to me and revealed the true reason as to why I made it as far as I did through the audition process.

What was that reason? I'm glad you asked. You see, for far too long I put off pursuing this acting thing because of fear. Fear is paralyzing - It makes you feel incompetent. Fear is blinding - It keeps you from seeing ahead. Many of you reading this right now are guilty of allowing fear to keep you from pursuing your heart felt desires. We as individuals, too often, compare ourselves to the next man. We are guilty of seeing what others have to offer and failing to see what WE bring to the table. Each of us are gifted in our own right. We all possess qualities that are not found in "the next man". These qualities are what make us unique and set us apart from the rest.

Having said that, up until the auditions with the Ensemble, I failed to see what I brought to the table. I constantly let the fact that I did not have any acting experience paralyze me emotionally, mentally, and physically. Each time I attempted to audition I backed out with each paralyzing thought, "They are more skilled than you. They have more training than you. Why are you wasting your time?" The auditions for the Ensemble Theatre, relinquished my fear.

Over 500 people auditioned for the 2008-2009 Ensemble season. To be considered for three roles in TWO shows allowed me to see that I am just as capable as the next man - having no experience whatsoever. The purpose of the whole auditioning process was for me to see that I am gifted. The best talent, is raw talent. Granted, I can use some training; but I have the basics. Whatever, you the reader, may be putting off to pursue - let today be the day you stop allowing fear to keep you from pursuing your dreams. Allow fear to be a motivator. Look it in the eye - tell it you're a lie! Remember this, "God specializes in using ordinary people to do extraordinary things!" Be encouraged!!
