Dukes of Leisure and Salon Kingsadore are playing a show at The Stardome in Aucklands One Tree Hill Domain. It is on Saturday the 2nd of September, 2006. Doors open at 9:30pm.
The Dukes of Leisure are a six piece instrumental ambient rock group who hail from Wellington. Theyve spent the 3 years since their formation exploring new sonic territories and forming their ideas into compositions. Their sound is one of dense textures, overlapping melodies and shifting dynamics sweeping from restrained introversion to joyful and triumphant releases, often within the same piece.
One of the Dukes of Leisure just happens to be an astronomer, and will provide a special star presentation in between the live music performances. This will be the bands first performance in Auckland.
Salon Kingsadore is an upbeat instrumental combo with points of reference as diverse as surf guitar, jazz, European film soundtracks and psychedelic rock. Returning with their second studio album, Hotel Azteca, SK sound very much like they could be the missing link between early Santana and The Clean.
Aucklands Stardome is a world class astronomical education facility, and a unique location for live music. Such awe inspiring New Zealand acts as High Dependency Unit and Dimmer have performed in the space in the past, as well as a series of Summer Jazz shows over the years. There is a limited capacity of only 84 seats which, along with the darkness, adds to the intimate nature of the dome.
There is a limit of only 80 tickets, and they are available at Real Groovy Auckland.
