Music

During the day or in the evening, on the festival's stages and in the pub, you can enjoy free musical acts all over during Oerol. Exciting, innovative crossover sounds will take you by surprise on the Groene Strand. Balkan meets Beats. Polka meets rock. Get your hips gyrating during the afternoon of Turkish music.

During the day, the warm, atmospheric sounds of a wide range of singer-songwriters and bands will also waft across the Westerkeyn festival centre, which will also warm to the African rhythms of Mundial on Tour. Between and after acts, various DJs will get you dancing the day and night away. In addition, our mobile stage, Held op Wielen, (Heroes on Wheels) will carry more music over the island, allowing contemporary artists to pay tribute to their musical heroes.

Not only does the festival provide a highly diverse, fascinating range of musical attractions, but there will also be a great deal to engage your ears in Terschelling's bars and cafés. And for the most up-to-date overview of all the musical performances, see the daily festival paper.



Niet alleen het theaterprogramma van Oerol kent sterke verhalen. Wat betreft het muziekprogramma kun je simpelweg stellen dat we een hele sterke programmering hebben. Duidelijk gebaseerd op dit thema is het muziekproject Held op Wielen. Dit rijdend podium is mede mogelijk gemaakt door Nomad. De hele festivalperiode zal het mobiele podium op verschillende plaatsen op het eiland optredens verzorgen.
Talentvolle en interessante muzikanten vertolken op dit reizende podium de favoriete nummers van de helden die hen geïnspireerd hebben. Naast de muzikanten zal ook een aantal jonge dichters en schrijvers voordragen uit werk van één of meerdere van hun helden.
Gastheer van het hele programma is singer/songwriter en cabaretier André Manuel.
Held op wielen houdt op iedere plaats 30 minuten stand om daarna weer door te reizen naar de volgende locatie. Zie de dagkrant voor alle locaties en speeltijden van die dag!

Terschellings Oerol Festival is an annual location-specific theatre festival held on the Dutch island Terschelling in mid-June. Location-specific theatre, theatre in barns, sheds and on the streets, modern dance, opera, visual art, music and the various cross-overs are the ingredients of a festival that uses the whole island as its stage. Over the past 25 years, the festival has grown from a small-scale street festival into an internationally recognised, multi-disciplinary festival.

This year the 26th edition of the festival will take place from the 15th till the 24th of June. The theme will be Tall Tales.


Terschellings Oerol Festival is een locatiegericht theaterfestival dat jaarlijks midden juni plaatsvindt. Locatietheater, schuurtjestheater, straattheater, moderne dans, opera, beeldende kunst, muziek en de diverse cross-overs zijn de ingrediënten van een festival met het eiland als podium. Het festival groeide in 25 jaar uit van een klein straatfestival tot een internationaal zeer gewaardeerd multidisciplinair festival.

In 2007 vindt het festival plaats van 15 t/m 24 juni. Het thema dit jaar is Sterke Verhalen: een ode aan de verhalen die de mensheid vanaf haar ontstaan heeft gevormd en haar ook in de toekomst richting zal geven.
