...and it has nothing to do with this blog entry, but I just thought I'd comment.

I've been on the apartment hunt ever since I got my last promotion/raise. Unfortunately, I can't afford much. There's a bachelor apt that's definitely affordable, and I'll look at it, but...I have no idea how I'm going to fit a double bed, couch, desk, and all this other stuff in there if it's as small as I think it is.

There's one that I'm coveting. I even have dreams about it (when I'm not dreaming about a huge scorpion in my house). Hardwood floors, high ceilings, two bedrooms...and if I had another $200/month, I could probably swing it. My biggest problem right now is that one of my jobs is for a non-profit agency, and it's contract work...so I'm out of work for usually four months out of the year. So I have to, like, save and stuff.

I desperately wish I was one of those authors who could bring in that kind of money through donations for the eserials, but I honestly don't have the time to get out and promote it like I probably should--not when you consider that only a tiny fraction of readers ever actually support serials with $$ or even reviews. It's remarkable to me that so few of the readers of my novels actually translates to serial readers.

One commissioned cover a month could do it...as could one client a week for house cleaning. If I knew anyone looking for a roommate, that would be doable too, but then we'd have to be able to tolerate one another for extended periods of time, and there are few people I can manage to do that with.

And so I have to be sad that I can't get the apt I so desperately want. Woe is me.

The scorpion dream thing is pretty weird. Maybe it means you should have giant demon scorpions attack everyone in one (or even better, both!) of your serials.

Apparently scorpions in dreams mean that I should beware of betrayal.

From a random site, in which I did no research and can not verify is correct in any way. "A scorpion may be symbolic of something in your environment which is hurtful, dangerous, and "stinging." It may represent bitter words and very negative attitudes.
"

Apt hunts suck. I generally have at least one breakdown before finding one, when I'm looking.
