Hi Friends , My guests on the show this week are BBC 2 Folk award winners Jack Mc Neil and Charlie Heys from Carlisle and Sammy Horner and Paul Baird will also be in the studio to speak about the reforming of The Electrics Jack and Charlie met at college and began playing as a duo in the easter of 07. Charlie has played in several folk bands including Sonas and Rubber Chicken, and plays fiddle in her dad's band back in Hampshire. Jack who is from Cumbria has supported artists such as Kirsty McGee and Matt Martin, Po' Girl and The Wailin' Jennies, played the emerging music slot on the main stage at Brampton Live summer 06 and recorded his first solo album 'Before I'm Home' in 2006. The duo were finalists in the BBC Radio 2 Young Folk Awards 2008, and they have since played the main stages at Warwick Folk Festival 07/08, Bromyard Folk Festival 08, Priddy Folk Festival 09. They have played Fareham and Gosport Easter Festival 08, Ireby Folk Festival 07/08/09 and Moseley Folk Festival 08; as well as headlining at the Black Swan in York, the Ariel Centre in Totnes, the Cukoos Nest in Leek, The Focsle Folk Club, The Newhampton Inn, the Woolston and Burseldon Folk Club, the Library Theatre in Birmingham, The Old Joint Stock Theatre in Birmingham and the Kitchen Garden Cafe in Birmingham. They have also played support for Spiers and Boden at The Musician in Leicester and The Red Lion in Birmingham; where they also supported Martin Carthy and Dave Swarbrick, and supported Kirsty McGee and Mat Martin. They released their debut album on Fellside Records in June 2008 and their second album "The Northern Road" is all finished and will be released on Fellside Records in January 2010!
