Can anyone tell me the reason behind the gigantic surge of spam that's been taking over every forum that I surf as of late? It seems as if they're everywhere, for every kind of product, and there's no way to stop them anymore. My own forum, The OnyxSparrow Forum, is under constant bombardment of new "members" that are either trying to spam me or lurk around and collect info on my legitimate members. The Internet is under siege my friends, and this shall be a mighty war indeed! The terrorists aren't our THERE, they're in HERE and they want you to buy cheap drugs from Canada.

Ok, some I understand... The porn, fine. The drugs, ok... but who in their right mind is going to mortgage their house using a link they got from a random forum-spamming bot???

"Nice site! Get a new mortgage online. Quick and easy!!"

"Why thank you helpfull spambot, I was looking for a way to refinance my house but I spend so much time on the internet that I was ignoring the fact that I needed to get a new mortgage." *click*

Is this actually the scenerio the people who make spambots picture in their heads? Has anyone ever, and I mean EVER actually bought something by following these spam links and trusting their credit card information to companies like this? Obviously people must or the spam would stop for lack of profitablility... or is it out of our hands? Someone must have made the first bot. But what if... after that... they begand to evolove. What if Spambots are no longer created by illegal advertisers, but the Spambots themselves are trying to communicate on their own?? A sentient cyber-being, spreading throughout the internet like viral advertising, moving from system to system and gathering information for the final takeover of the real world... oh yes, the war is appon us!
