Equally capable of being mystical and self-consciously arty, Natura Nasa display both sides in this live set. Improv doesn't mean that any shitty sound is music, though any shitty sound is music, if you get the point. Isolated and meditated and removed from its normal box, any sound can be seen to be music. If in the isolation and removal you are conscious of the artist or intent behind the excavation, you have a problem.

This limited edition of 50 copies was recorded in their hometown of Pittsburgh, and they use the space of the auditorium wisely. In almost Middle Eastern-like drones that range from blaring noise to hermetic pulse, Peter Spynda and company straddle that line where anything can be music. Cage long ago showed that the ambience of the room is also music, and Natura Nasa reinforces that truth. The silence of the crowd too adds to the risk; are they listening, or afraid to respond to new sound?
