Current mood:  anxious
Category: Music
Music should be an art from thats taken to all corners of the mind! sounds potentious but there are too many musicians out there just doing what the next person is doing. Im also to blame as I work in Isolation and so Im getting to a point of not being to able to progress further unless I undertake more software and become more isolated within the making of music, and so I become a pasty artitst that has no other fuel except my own which can be tiring.

My point to all this is Im asking the myspace world in showing me the road to collaboration or somewhere which has like minded people that just want to bounce ideas. No false hopers, none of this promising the world and not be able to give the goods. There are 'too Many MCs no enough mics' my interruption of this quote is there are to many people who talk the talk and not walk the walk (Welcome to the world of music)

There is a positive outcome to all of this I promise

I wanting to find out if there are any speak easy places that let good people express themselves through the art of music? could anyone help?

message me an I will surely get my ass in gear to be a part of it!

look forward to your thoughts

Nickie

Hi Nickie,
Well first of all It’s fantastic you’re making music again. You have more talent than sliced bread(...eh?), and people are going to be falling over themselves to work with you very soon.
I’m very happy some new tracks have appeared on your myspace. They are very quiet though, and I guess one of the things you’re talking about above is help with technical 'stuff'. It seems like people would need a degree in rocket science to get their heads around recording software. Don’t despair though, it’s great you’re working on some new material.
I don’t know what to say apart from that at the moment, it just seems crazy if you’re feeling isolated. I live with Jason Sicknote and Cosmo, who are both 'working' music people. So if you ever want to talk about ideas or just drink tea and stare out the window then you’re always welcome to pop in. I’m trying to get my head around some new software called Digital Performer at the moment. Jason has this crazy idea that I could 'Produce' some Sicknote tracks. Whether any of us could help you depends on where you think you you want to go (solo acoustic?/electronic?/band?).
I’m very happy that Lou Noble has got herself a band at last (sounds like it’s going to be Jazzy and fun!). You probably know they are doing their first gig at Glo bar on 22nd Aug.
Sincerely yours DJ Tommy Tank x (It’s Matti actually)

hey tommy tank I'm just trying to place who you are?

Spoke to cosmo this eve and he said that he was just talking about me this moring over breakfast...anyhow know the tracks are quiet which sucks gonna try and sort it this eve, as Im on a late niter, anyhow, music can be an art form which involves pure isolation, Im proud to see lou with musicians taking her seriously because its always the case that that the vocalist is the less important person in the pack which is why Ive probably gone solo, I was trying to learn ableton but it got messy as couldnt just put it on and make music its too complicated but i'll get there as I'll get there with learning piano, quitar and bass, these are a few of my favourite things...

Gonna stop the ranting thanks for the all the posistive feedback really appriciate it, would be nice to meet you in the flesh sometime.

Ive prob met you but I have a short memory.

take it easy! drinking tea and staring out the window is my new favourite trend.

Nickie Charles signing off

hey nicki, good your backing making tewn again.....

collaboration is the way forward, ive also been isolated making tewn for while and collabs have been the most fun lately and inspiring......

for me myspace has been an amazing way of collaborating cos you can just do something with anyone in the world and not even meet them which is very weird but full on DIY....
Luckily lately we have come accross collaborators who walk the walk with us cos we have both been really enthusiatsic which has led to some interesting results.

hope all goes well for you.....Im sure there are plenty of collaboraters around who will walk the walk with you. If you want to have a go together just for fun we are still up for it as we were before, but if not you bound to find some people to work with.

bued, krik

Hi Nickie, just saw your post while browsing, and just wanted to say I know how you feel - and that means you're not alone! I've spent the last year learning software, recording and re-recording, staring into the abyss of despair and stretching out a few minimum wage paid hours to a thread in order to learn how to record...

But although I've still not finished I can say it's definitely been worth it! I feel more in control of the software than I did at the start, which doesn't mean that I'll make a hit record or make any money back, but it DOES mean that it's started to be a creative process, and that to me is a daily joy that money can't buy.

On the other side, going through that pain of self-doubt has made me value more than ever the fact that as musicians we do need to collaborate and have fun together; which in turn can feed our 'on-my-own' creative moments.

I read somewhere that musicians need to remember to play - in all senses of the word. Sometimes if we're trying to take our creativity seriously, we can forget to let go and mess around too!

Good luck with it all.
