October 30, 2009 - Friday
So This may be a lil silly.. but.. Ive been wanting to do this for awhile now, its been lingering inside of my melon head. bahaha. No really. I want to start some blogs (prolly weekly) called "where do we draw the line?" HAHA

If you think its stupid thats cool, no need for retarded comments just stop reading and go on your merry little way.

But, I have discussions with my Spark ALL The time about random topics, tattoos, Cheating, Porn, Drugs, etc. Anything really, but we are always talking about the world and people, and how different people view things, and I have our different opinions down pact, but I want to hear about other peoples views on these types of subjects, just out of curiosity. Feel free to speak your mind regarding the topic, I DO NOT want to read any private messages about this, I want it all to be public so other people can read your Point of view as well.

Immature people are not welcome to be involved in this small blogging project of mine. :) The playground is on another profile kiddos! :))

Okay.. so the first "where do we draw the line" Topic will be... (DUM DUM DUHHHH)

TATTOOS.

There is a lot of controversy about them. Im not going to lie when I was younger I was thought people with tattoos were "scary" or "Bikers". Its kinda cliche, or is it? Its sad really to think that I truely believed that. NO I do not think that anymore, in fact I love them. I think they are sexy and a great way to show a form of "art" or creativeness..I also know that there is something about tattoos in the Bible. Ive never read the Bible, but my ex always told me that it was against Gods word to get a tattoo, not sure the term for it, I guess I dont understand that either, there are many cultures of people who tattoo their entire body in honor of their beliefs and yet God does not approve of this..? Why?  Also there are some companies/businesses that do not allow you to work for them if you have tattoos?... I dont really understand it I guess.. WHAT IF someone just had a simple heart tattoo.. or a tat of a lost family member? Most tattoos have a meaning or a story behind them, (as Ive seen on the new tattoo reality shows on MTV) Well in one of our discussions about it, we talked about how, well .. what if someone had a very "inappropriate" tattoo..for example.. a man with a huge tattoo of a women with her legs spread wide with her vagina hanging open.. and was sporting this at a public pool with lots of children.. would it be okay for the "pool management" to tell the person they had to cover it or had to leave the premises? What about someone with vulgar language across their neck, or up their arm, where it can be read wearing everyday clothing. Do the types of tattoos different people get define what "type" of person they are? What is "appropriate" and what is not? Where do we draw the line?  Do you think that if more businesses allowed people to show their tattoos at their work and in public then we as people would eventually be more accepting or open to this, and change our views on them in general? I see more and more people with tats these days, which is great, I often find myself staring at them wondering what it means, or the story behind it. There is a man around the town I live in that has his whole face tattooed and people often glare at him, judging him Im sure, or maybe they are just curious, what do you people think about tattoos.. do you believe there are certain places for tattoos and not others? What about appropriateness? How should businesses treat this situation? Religion? Where do we draw the line? Or is there a line to be drawn? LETS HEAR IT!

hehe

Well I would like to share my feelings....For those of you who are going to get all defensive..this is not pointing fingers this is just telling why I don't have any tattoos because Leviticus chapter 19, verse 28, which says: You shall not make any cuttings in your flesh for the dead, nor tattoo any marks on you: I am the LORD. The bible says our bodies are a living sacrifice holy and exceptible unto God and to keep it this way is our resonable service....so I choose to not mark my body or put holes into it because it really isn't MY body I didn't create it God did. This is my view on why I don't have any tattoos...I am just going to add that I think nasty tats are uncalled for and gross...But any ways <3 Dani

a lot of the things we are not supposed to do in Leviticus seem to point to good health practices. I believe one of the worries was the spreading of blood born diseases, probably due to unsterile needles, bones, and whatever else they used to make tattoos back then. Not having the medical sciences we have today, they had to be really careful, and ceremonial about it.  But it is there nontheless.

I got my first tattoo when I was like 17, Im 39 now. I mainly have skull type tats. Im no biker. Im an artist and thats the type of stuff I draw. I wish I held off because the technology and artists are much better now. I recently got a snake that I drew tattooed onto my forearm, very visible. I see people look at it at the supermarket and other types of stores. And I can read the expressions on their faces. they think Im either from prison or a biker with no money. Well they are very wrong to judge this book by its cover for I am a quiet guy who wouldnt hurt anyone. I keep to myself. People will always judge us with tattooes. thats just our society. I had a security job once and they had us cover up our tats. I didnt mind. But did feel out of place. Its very rare to find someone with a tat of something over the top. Atleast thats my opinion. So having kids looking at such things isnt a huge deal. YET. lol. Its hard to tell but Phil Anselmo of the band DOWN has an awesome sleeve, in it is a demon with his tongue going into this woman and coming out of her mouth. Hard to see, but its cool as hell. And probably inapropriate for kids. But it fits him. It would be a different story if a school teacher walked around with that. If he did have it, just cover it. Once you get out of work...be yourself. Fuck the dirty looks.

hmm. well I personally don't really like them. I don't ever plan on getting one. Its not that I dislike them really but I just wouldn't want anything written or drawn on my body. I feel its fine that people go out and get them if they really admire them, but in a work enviornment I'd have to agree that it can look trashy and unprofessional. I'd say if you want something meaningful drawn on your body do it where not everyone will see it so you won't have these problems at your job. also I cant understand why people would even want to be covered in random art but I'm sure someone else out there could easily answer that question. Oh and just for the record I'm not a firm believer in god. By the way addison you are a very very cool chick you like really have a brain up there. :)

I myself don't have any yet but my best friend that lives in LA does tatts and has been trying to get me to get one for years...I know I will just not sure what I want yet.  I think that if it means something to you it doesn't matter, but if you're getting them just because society says it's cool then I disagree.

tatoos are cool if they have real meaning, not just picking something off the wall at the shop, also something you won't regret later like a name of some one you broke up with

I was influenced by my Dad's old Playboy magazines. Like, from the 1960s. I think women look better without them. I can live with a tramp stamp, or some little thing on a butt cheek or a shoulder blade, but Jenna Jameson has ruined her legs, Nikki Nova has turned her back into the hood of a Trans-Am, and Janine Lindemulder has become almost a circus freak. I mean, I wouldn't kick Kat Von D out of bed, but I'd keep the lights down low.

i myself an a nihilist.  i believe there is no line.  i believe that "acting human" has been redefined as something that is not human at all.  to me, the bible is just a book.  also, if there is a god, and i dont think there is, i believe the fact that everyone spurting about how they dont know his plan, but still seem to think they know what he wants us to do is a large load of crap.  so i believe buisness' should get over it.  there is no such thing as appropriateness, just rules chalked up by social etiquite so as not to hurt other peoples feelins, or social rules that have no meaning other than that you are not in controll of what you can and cant do.  tattoo's are just ink on the body.  not to downplay them, i myself have two, but i believe that the world is making a huge deal out of nothing, just like smoking and other topics.

There's a certain point where people get defined by their tattoos.  That's not a bad thing, but it does get hard to look beyond the ink - probably because it's so much to take in .  I prefer something on the side of the line that's called a little bit of artwork.

Probably the best tattoos are the ones that are normally not seen - the small of the back, pubic bone, etc.  These make you feel special that you've seen them.

I actually watched the history of tattoos recently on the History Channel and the all over face tattoo started in New Zeland over there it actually shows Family history so I think that it is acceptable. I myself have a tattoo on my wrist It is my Daddies last name and a pink bow. Well my daddy died when I was seventeen and My reasoning is that when I get married one day I would always like to carry his last name with me. If I were told to cover it I would refuse. I think that tattoos are forever a part of a person and why should we cover ourselves? Now on the other hand The whole naked lady tattoo is a little over the top. I don't think that kids should see that shit. If someone gets something like that I don't see a meaning...So what do they want the world to think theyre pervs? However you are who you are and if that's what a person wants okay but being asked to cover something like that up is understandable cause I wouldn't want to see something like that on a waiter serving my food. So yeah that's my two cents lol.

I think that it's more of a personal thing than a public perspective.  I have a lot of tattoos.  Thought of, Designed, and placed by me.  I've always had the mindset of "I'll do what I want to do".  People get too caught up in what they think is right or wrong for  someone else.  Live your own damn life.  Judging others by their tattoos, hairstlye, clothes, color of skin, family, profession, etc, etc, etc, is stupid.  Live your own damn life.  Everyone expresses themselves in one way or another.  I prefer tats.  Tats do not define the person.  They complete the person.  Instead of judging someone by their tats, be bold enough to ask what the tat means.  Imagine that, dialogue, conversation, communication.  HA anyway, I like the new blog concept!

tats are real cool. but when tattoos are of last name on a back, a stupid saying, or those little angel wings. they lose meaning if there was any to begin with. tattoos are an expressive art form that you should think alot about before getting. not just because others have them. so i guess drawing the line would be at cliche ness of a tattoo.

While it's obvious that tattoos have become more acceptable in mainstream society, they are still viewed as taboo in many circles.
In some settings, it's perfectly normal to show your ink in the work environment. Music stores, Hot Topic, Bars/Nightclubs or any facet of the entertainment industry. This is almost expected.
In certain professions, they're looked down upon. A lawyer sporting a sleeve tat wouldn't get much respect in the courtroom, for example.
Most people aren't surprised that Dr's, Lawyers, Politicians, etc have tats, but choose to keep them covered. There is still the stigma that tattoos are associated with Gangs, Bikers, Criminals or the Military.

As far as what to tattoo on yourself and where. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. I'll admit that there are certain things tattooed on a woman that I find unattractive, but that's my opinion.
If someone wants to tattoo 'Fuck the World' across their forehead, that's their choice. They'll just have to live with it when they're 80.

ok miss addi bo batty
have you ever watched the miami ink show or the one with kat vod d. well she is a person who started out with a lil heart in mind and you now see she has alot more than she first invisioned. theres  no dispute she is very beautiful and the tattoos she has seem to fit and almost belong where they are. so to me thats an artfull way to depict ones lifestyle. then theres as you said the whole face tattoo and body tattoos from from neck to waiste. simply up to the bearer of the design. to you and i and joe schmoe it may look out of place and distracting to the eye, but they probubly got that certain tat for a reason. like we all know the types of tats that come from prison, generaly indigo blue and done with make shift thrown together gadgets. which if the tattooist is a skilled artist makes no difference at all. as far as the bible you may not like this but i am an athiest and have no belief in god, however i was a believer till i was able to do my own research and found no proof beyond the bible and my own personal faith, faith in a god starts with how your parents want you to behaive. so for most people its what theyre parents before them and theyre parents before them taught them. and in turn it tends to be a patern you have learned to trust.
i have come to a conclusion (and if you like im open to youre opinion) evolution is the only way we became to be upon this planet. we came from the water. theres so many things on this planet that is explainble, like dinosaurs, and caveman, and petrified wood. all these things can be found all over the world. and theres some speculation on the exact dates they were alive but no matter what it was thousands of years ago. now most people can tell you that the events and things in the bible took place in less than 3000 years ago...right?...
there is not a single piece, in any museum, of any event that the bible projects, of any charactor,

enough of that im off track just research youre religion and faith before you attempt to follow 1

ok so im sure theres no harm in a tattoo be it smal,l tall, or accross youre ass...as far as having a questionable tattoo in a public place. id say be aware of where you take your young ones. and if it should happen the tattoo are scoped by the kids learn them the manners that would let them know theres a time and a place to ask anyone about his or her personal effects, be it piercings, tattoos, large tumor like growth on the face... you know????? just be sure to teach "youre" chilldrens to be respectfull of all people. most people respond to respect instantly!!
nothing "labels" a person better than their personality. sad thing is sometimes we only get 1 maybe 2 words out before others draw their conclusions about you. so the only time i believe a tattoo labels you its like how rock stars get a sleeve tat(full arm) we figure real quick ~~hes a rocker~
and in turn ~he been to jail~ and the allways hysterical~thats a gay boy right ther~lol
so no lines there..
im so happy you added sparky in this blog he is so very lucky to have a mindfull girl with astronomical dimentions.(i still like to refer to him as boondock)lol im a dork!!~!!~!
thank you for an interesting start on youre weekly blog i WILL be looking towards the next issues

so theres my fuckin line  addison.
xoxoxo((((if you want me to cut it down il understand))))

U know all cultures pretty much before the christian reich took over, men are the onle that wore jewlery and were tatooed because women were thought of as beautiful as they were, and men wore items to show wealth, heiarchy, spirituality  and personality....there is not enough of that anymore. Everyone gets judged and its pathetic....especially when the people who judge the most are the ones that would be going to hell
