Category: Movies, TV, Celebrities
it's time our group does some more films like 'Sober'
(please see 'Sober' on our myspace page - http://profile.myspac... )

SO...
Time for The AFIM Group ONE DAY SHOOT FILMS
(please note new acronym the Atlanta Film Industry Meetup.com group,
now called "The AFIM Group"

first step,
WHO HAS A SCRIPT?
We need SCRIPTS that can be shot in One Day. Like Sober was.
That means it's prob'ly 4 to 8 pages depending on the amount of action, the locations(s), etc.
If you have a script like that, and can have it to me by April 1st, then go to http://filmind.meetup.com/33 and contact Jim Smith the meetup group organizer.

step two,
Members who want to be PRODUCERS / PRODUCTION MANAGERS for the film shorts will coordinate the paper work and the people. We will need one producer and one production manager per script. This is not a job for the weak at heart. It's like herding cats sometimes, but there are people who live for this stuff. You know who you are. Contact Jim Smith through http://filmind.meetup.com/33 if you want to take on the production for one or more of the scripts.

step three,
Once we have scripts and producers. The producers will work with the members who are DIRECTORS, and DIRECTORS of PHOTOGRAPHY that have a camera or can rent one, and that will spend one day in April and shoot the films. The writer may want to direct, but we will still need one DP per script. If we have multiple DPs, or a DP that will do multiple days, then we can do more than one script. Contact Jim Smith through http://filmind.meetup.com/33 if you want to shoot a film one day in April or May.

step four,
WHO WANTS TO SPEND A DAY ON A SET?
Once we have the people and dates lined up in the steps above, we can coordinate ACTORS and CREW for the days the scripts will shoot. Maybe we could have one big casting call day. We'll post more on that as the steps above get finalized.

step five,
SHOOT

step 6,
WHO WANTS TO EDIT AND COMPOSE?
Edit and score. We will need EDITORS and COMPOSERS for this. This part will Not have to be done in one day. It will have to be coordinated with the PRODUCERS

FINALLY:
We will post the films to our MySpace page.
They can also be entered in film festivals by the writers/producers if they want.
The writer will still own rights to the script.
The producers and writer will own rights to the film.
And the producers and writers can make a deferred payment contract with the crew if desired.
We did that with Sober; if Sober had won a film contest or been sold, the cast and crew would have got a piece after the initial cost.

The real benifit of this process is to get experience and to something out there on film that each of us can use as a part of a digital portfolio for our skills. Whether it is writing, directing, acting, lighting, or any of the other jobs that make up our industry. And we have a great time doing what we love.
