Hey hey hey. :D
Last night was the ICM Awards (Inspirational Country Music Awards), and I was asked to perform "Heaven Knows" (thanks John! And Jason!), which was shocking and unbelievable and the coolest thing ever.
So obviously I did. My first award show :) The weirdest part was the camera circling me the whole time I was playing. Actually the weirdest part was that the Carter Twins and Randy Houser played right after me.
Okay, fine, the REAL weirdest part was looking down at the front row and seeing Ricky Skaggs smiling up at me.
Ricky Skaggs.
I met him at Starbucks once when I was 12. He's very nice. (And he's Ricky Skaggs.) I gave him my demo CD that day in Starbucks. I couldn't even believe that he was watching me perform one of my songs that I wrote at the ICM Awards 3 years later. Life changing.
But I have to say that I got chills when Jason Crabb said to me, "Congratulations on signing with Sony girl!"
Because, well...I did.
I know that I’m only at the beginning of this journey. I know that there is an entire ocean that I have to swim across to get to where I want to be. I know that in the grand scheme of things, every step is just a measly step across the music industry’s equivalent to the Great Wall of China.
But you know what?
It’s still a step.
And, jeez, when it comes to steps, a record deal is a pretty dang big one.
I just said the magic words. RECORD DEAL. Because I have one now.
I have a record deal. (!!!!!!!!!)
I feel like shouting from a rooftop, but I thought that a blog would suffice. Mostly because I’m blogging to those of you who have been there from, I would say the beginning, but really before I even had a beginning. And I figure my neighbors would be annoyed if I did shout from a rooftop.
I am signed to Sony Music Nashville. Um. What?!?!?!?!?
Yeah. Unbelievable.
In case you were wondering…yes, this is the news I’ve been teasing you all with for months. You wouldn’t believe how long contracts take in this town. We’ve been negotiating since the beginning of February and I’m JUST now allowed to tell you.
But it was worth the wait...right??
Thank you so much for reading this, and being along for the ride with me. I can't even tell you how much it means to me when you guys read my blogs, and leave me comments, and give me feedback on new songs.
Some of you have been here with me for years.
I so appreciate that. And I love you all. Really, I do.
Infinite X's and O's,
Jordyn
PS --- My record is scheduled to be in a Best Buy NEAR YOU on November 17th :D
One month and one day away.
Wow, that's really weird.
