Tony Low "Time Across The Page" Tony Low is certainly no stranger to the wide and wonderful world of pop music. In the eighties and into the nineties, he held the role of singer, songwriter and bassist for The Cheepskates, an East Coast band that was rightfully considered hot stuff on the underground garage rock circuit. Tony then founded Static 13, whose sound and approach was quite a bit more forceful and aggressive than the fare The Cheepskates provided. Choosing to go the solo route, Tony kicked off his solitary career with a cassette called "Plus One" followed by two albums, "Dandelion In The Year Of The Rooster" and "Sleight Of Hand." Now here's his latest offering, "Time Across The Page," which clearly registers as his strongest effort to date. Teeming with troves of tugging hooks and an assured delivery that pops and rocks with determination, "Not The Lucky Ones" and "This Old House" firmly stress Tony's flair for laying down instantly accessible tunes. A hard driving guitar riff penetrates "Winter Of Black Ice" while "In This Life" shimmers with mesmerizing atmospherics. Navigated by jangly guitars and a super catchy arrangement, "One Fine Day" reflects the folk rock magnetism of The Byrds and The Beau Brummels. Tony's vocals are upfront, initimate and easy to listen to. Much of the material on "Time Across The Page" pays homage to Tony's garage pop roots but plenty of diversified twists and turns are slyly slipped into the process. Touches of psychedelic music, art rock and even an elegant instrumental appear on the disc. Loaded with hummable songs you won't soon forget, "Time Across The Page" is a sheer delight.
