So yeah, that game wasn't that good overall. But I've felt like playing
it lately, but I can't. Quite a while ago, Auran (the developer, along
with Game Cock, of Fury) shut down all but it's administration, and
soon after that, they shut down the Fury servers.
Now, if the game is no longer for sale and they shut down their
servers, why didn't they release the ability for people to host their
own dedicated servers? Not many people played that game, there were
only 100-200 people online at any time, but it kinda sucks having a
game that I paid $50 for being completely unplayable. The game had some
serious issues, but most of those that were complained about in the
initial negative reviews were fixed in the Age of the Chosen patch they
release a bit after launch. The game looks great graphically, even on
my decent but not great PC, and it had some really cool combat at
times, mainly the execution moves.
My point is, Auran can make a total of $0 now that they are no longer
selling the game, and that they are no longer even hosting servers for
people that already paid for the game. So why not make the game
freeware, and include some way for people to host private, dedicated
servers? The game already had a free to play version, you just were
limited in what you could do, they could have expanded that to include
all normal features, then released a small dedicated server pack for
download.
