COURSE SYNOPSIS:
Learn burlesque basics and choreography while using enlightening theory and fun experience with a Burlesque Maven. Canada’s very own Malaika Millions! Be Sexy! Stand out! Ms. Millions will enable you to use the force that lifts the skirt on one’s unmentionables and taboo’s. The Art of Burlesque : Millions Style will explore the many styles of Burlesque yet focus on the basic structural Elements including : Tease, Persona, Choreography, Costume, Comedy and Presence. Designed for the beginner and the intermediate, this class will allow you to take your burlesque act to the next level. This 5 week session will culminate into performance for those interested in trying out their act. Set in a very comfortable environment for all students as they let loose and let go.

About the teacher…
MALAIKA MILLIONS
For more than 15 years Malaika Millions has caused both an awed hush and craze in audiences for her work as a performance artist, burlesque maven, poetry performance artist, emcee, and comedian. Originally from Vancouver BC, she currently resides in Los Angeles where she continues to use these mediums exploring in the most silly and sultry way, issues of feminism, power dynamic and sexual negation.
In the past three years Millions has performed in more than 150 stage works, including such self produced Cabaret’s as “Malaika Millions and her Breast Friends” (2007). A highlight is her executive production of the infamous ‘mammarionette’ act, “The Big Bam Boobies,” which premiered at the 2006 Vancouver Burlesque Festival. Fluent in all burlesque styles, from Vaudeville to Seductive Strip Tease, Millions infuses relevant social statements with sex appeal and humour. Millions was honoured as the “Performer most likely to confuse an audience and then make them pee their pants” at the 2008 Vancouver International Burlesque Festival. Millions believes that “it only takes a spoon full of sexy to help the message get out”. She is presently at work on several new productions and performances.
