Current mood:  melancholy
Been awhile since I blogged, after the last one about my friend Scotty passing I just couldnt get back into it. I didn't want to blog more depressing things so I waited, and I waited and although life hasn't been depressing exactly there just hasnt been a lot to blog about.

I know people get tired of me talking about shows I went to but hey thats me, it's what makes me tick so I guess if it's not your thing, turn the page.

I hit FL back in March, went to my first drag races, The gatornationals and had a blast and then hit up the Pearcy shows in Gainsville and Jacksonville. My buddy Joaquin arranged for me to hang backstage with them which was awesome! Rat Bastards are fun to hang out with! did all that in a weekend and was back to work monday night! Livin the life!

Next up was Papa Roach in Richmond, I don't have any friends really into them so I went alone. I'd been wanting to go to a show at the National for awhile just to see the architecture of the old theater. I wasn't disappointed either, it's a beautiful venue and not a bad seat in the house. I've got to find out how to get one of those boxseats though! I met a lot of great people there and some not so great ones. After the show I got robbed by a couple of my "new friends" Nice guys hu? But I didn't let it ruin it for me. Jacoby and the guys put on a good show in spite of the fact he had the flu and looked like he might pass out at anytime. I also got into a band I hadn't heard before Madina Lake, good sound, nice tight show. Overall a great night!

Then the day I'd been waiting for May 29th, M3 festival in Maryland! A trip back to the 80's with 16 hair bands! Over 10 hours of aquanet and spandex! Thats as close to heaven on earth as I'll ever get! I got a backstage pass from a friend but it turned out it wasnt all access, as the nice lady told me "that wont get you back here, that only gets you in the bar" So I went to the bar, drank a bit of courage and proceeded to the other side of the backstage area. It was guarded by a very bored looking black lady. I flipped my pass backwards and gave her a nice big "how ya doing" as I strolled back like I belonged there. I was almost through when she asked me to flip my pass. Ready to play dumb I turned it around for her and was shocked when she told me go ahead!

So there I am backstage and not knowing what I'm supposed to do or where to find my friend. This was a lot bigger then backstage at Brewsters Pit!!! I wandered around, talked to some people, pretended I was bored so I'd fit in. I did run into the guys from Baby Jayne which was cool. Hung out with Rodney for a bit but got lost from him at some point. Kicked back in front of the trailer and talked to a girl who was there with her guy, he played bass in one of the bands but didnt say which one. I think he was the dude from the Bullet Boys but not positive.

So I just chilled until Ratt was hitting the stage, me and a couple girls I was hanging with went to stand sidestage but just as we got there they shut it down. So we went out front and even though we were to the extreme right we did manage to get front row. The next 2 1/2 hours are a blur, hair heaven, first Ratt, then Twisted Sister! We did get a little bit of attention on the extreme edge, big thanks to the guys who noticed us over there, it was appreciated!

Afterwards we went bakstage again for a few but things were packing up quick so I headed down the road. spent the night in Greenbelt and topped off the weekend visiting some friends I hadnt seen in 25 years on sunday. It was the best!

So thats the summer so far, Not nearly as many shows as last year but thats ok, I don't have nearly as much money as I had last year. Theres a few more coming up I want to hit if I can, Joan Jett in Raleigh NC on July 11, Aaron Tippin in Lenexa, VA on July 25th, Got free tix to Mayhem Festival on Aug 9th, and it looks like a good Halloween weekend at Jaxx with Vains of Jenna and The 69 Eyes. Did I mention alice Cooper on sept 29th? Hellz yeah! All in all it should be a decent summer for music. Dio in VA would make it better but I guess since I saw him twice last year I can go without this year.

Been working on the webpage http://www.psykosmileys.com but it's not done yet, still reworking some things so you may run into some 404's just check back in a few days and it should be getting updated. I'm in process of moving all videos to my own server, I'm sick of youtube and google telling me I cant use a piece of a song for a video. I have to use original music, well dang if I had the talent to make original music I sure wouldnt be wasting it on youtube!!

Other then that it's just been work, which is getting tough as they make more and more cuts. I still get my 40 but not allowed overtime, didnt realize how much I relied on that! I may have a job prospect or two going on, not sure if they'll work out or even if they should. One is very exciting but not sure the logistics of survival will work. If not it's still been fun to dream a bit. It's made me realize maybe it's not too late to do something I want to do! Who knows maybe I'll build Psykosmileys into a corporate empire :) But even if I stay right where I am I wont forget to dream a bit now and then!

Hope everyone else is having a good summer too! (now wheres that warm weather???)
