Category: Pets and Animals

Ok, so I told several people (via bulletin and email) that on Nov. 9th, our almost 19 yr old cat died.  It was an accidental death - I think she would have lived to 25 because she still acted like a kitten.

So, I got a ton of emails, comments, and messages with condolences, and I thank you all so much.  Plus I heard some great pet stories and some about loss, so in return, I shared a story with a few people that someone said I should post.  So here it is.

This happened several years ago.

I had heard people talk about how animals could be SEEN as spirits, but I always wondered if that was a little much.  Well, while visiting my Mom one evening, maybe a month or so after her cat had died, I was sitting in my usual place in her kitchen - with my back to the pocket door to the living room.  He would always slowly strut through the door towards me with his tail straight up in the air, and come brush around my ankles and I would pet his head and back.

Well, I was looking AT my Mom, and we were busy yapping away in what I'm sure was a loud conversation, and out of my peripheral vision, I saw him strut up to my leg, and I was so busy chatting, I didn't think anything of it ... and as I chatted, I put my hand down to do what I always did, scratch his head.  And when I didn't FEEL anything, I looked down and GASPED, because I realized I had SEEN him and he really wasn't there physically ... and when I GASPED, I said OMG ...  and my Mother said, you saw him, TOO?  She THOUGHT she saw him but  ... when she realized that I saw him TOO, well, we freaked out.  My sister was sitting opposite me and had NO clue what we were getting so excited about.

Needless to say, my Mom was SO happy because she knew he was still somehow around.  I wouldn't have believed it, but - we both SAW him!

Bottom line is ... its nice to know that their little souls DO go on, and come back to visit us, whether we are aware of it or not!   So, if you've lost a pet, are not thinking of him or her, and suddenly your head is filled with thoughts of your pet, chances are, they are somewhere around you and just popping by to visit.  No one can tell me this is not true .... I KNOW what we both saw!

I'd be very interested to know if anyone else has had any experiences with their pets.  Or anything else for that matter.  I go way beyond just pets, but lets comment on just pets for now!  Please feel free to share your story by way of a comment!  Or just comment on what you think of my TRUE story.

Wow.. what a experience! I'm really sorry to hear about your cat. But I'm glad that you shared this story. It's a really cool one! I hope you are doing well. And we want you to come back to Florida. Today it's going to be around the 80's. Love and Miss You!

My mother passed away (hit by a drunk driver) when I was about 7 yrs. old...the night of the day we buried her, I swear me and 4 of my siblings saw her just passed by our bed like she always do normally wearing the same dress she was wearing in her coffin. 'Till to this day I'd like to believe I was dreaming in my sleep, but I have my other 4 siblings reacting with me so I would say.... and till to this day I still feel her presence though I hardly know her.

Oooo Spooks from a pet...

My guinea pig Patti died like a year ago, and I am so used to hearing her squeak at night in her cage that was across my room.. anyway everynight I would tell her "night Pattie" and she would squeak... I miss that very much. Well not long after that I got into bed and for some stupid reason I said good night patti.. and it dawned on me hello... shes not there.. well a couple minutes later I heard a squeak... I jumped and looked around nothing... I thought it was just my imgagination... But then I heard it again.. I started flipping out. I was like OMG my pig is trying to talk to me from the dead. I got up turned my light and my eyes got big my heart started pounding.... youll never know what eye saw right before my eyes..it was... a DAMN mouse making me think Patti was there. Boy did that a spoil it for me. I was so excited. Stupid mickey mouse. I should of through a log at its head. haha.

OMG~! ANNE I BELIEVE YOU BECAUSE THE SAME THING HAPPENED WITH MY PREVIOUS DOG "FAST EDDIE" - 3 WEEKS AFTER HE DIED I WAS IN BED FALLING ASLEEP AND I FELT A SMALL BACK PRESS UP AGAINST MINE LIKE HIS ALWAYS DID. I THOUGHT IT WAS MY MOTHER'S DOG GINGER SO I DID NOT THINK ANYTHING OF IT, BUT THEN I REALISED THAT GINGER NEVER SLEEPS LIKE THAT SO I TURNED AROUND AND NO DOG WAS THERE. THE PRESS WAS AXACTLY THE WAY EDDIE USED TO SLEEP NEXT TO ME. I LOVE PETS!!!

I just love when that happens but it is a OMG moment! I had a dog once and shortly after she passed away my Mother and I heard a scratch at the door and when I opened it, of course, there was nothing there. We looked at each other and knew she was home. I go beyond that thing too but animal spirits are good for now....Take Care...Jana
