Having ex-military for a roommate is great experience. It just needs to come with more of a warning label. Since we have to share a closet, I was thrilled to see that he only had four civilian shirts, which left the rest of the closet for me. Again, in the bathroom, which is perpetually clean, he only uses the vanity top. This leaves the medicine cabinet, the drawers, and the left side underneath the sink for all my things. (The right side of the sink has toilet paper, etc.) I've kept up my side of the deal, always putting away everything I use in the bathroom when I leave, except the flat iron, because I think we all saw that Friends episode where....yeah. And, if a scuzzy guy tries to hit on you or won't leave you alone, your roommate can break his wrist before he can shake your hand. Good times. But here's where the warnings failed to help me: when a former Army guy asks you if you want to go jogging, just say no. He promised he wouldn't go more than two miles. I thought I could handle that even though I haven't been running in the last five weeks. So we head out, go down the street, make a right and start jogging up hill -- for a full mile!! I got to the top of the hill and since I could no longer speak I motioned to him that I was going back the way we came before I died on the street, another mile downhill. He tried to convince me we had only gone 1/2 of a mile maybe, but when we got in the car and drove to get sushi for dinner, he realized it was a lot further than he thought. Oops. Tomorrow we're going surfing....wish me luck.
