Sunday, June 28, 2009

hello everybody. i hope all is well with you.
of course this week was a trajic one.we lost a legend. the worlds greatest enetertainer Michael "dancin" Jackson.ive never seen anyone get up on stage by his damn self and kill it like he did on mowtown 25.i remember being a kid watching it and he just blew my mind. now i was allready poppin at this time and i knew how to do the moonwalk but to see someone do it on tv was just insane.
now this was 1984 and there werent dvds or tivo or nothing but my grandfather had the first beta machine.these things were as big as a microwave and they had these small square tapes.(big up to all the O.G. muufuckas who know what im talkin bout). so he taped the show.i used to watch it over and over. now not many people in the hood had these machines.my grandpops was allways up on all the newest technology.
so at this time i was into poppin and breakin and i had been rapping for one year so i was pretty active.this michael jackson dude just intrigued me so much that i couldnt stop watching it.by the end of the first week i knew his whole routine by heart.
now there was a party coming up at the local rec center in lakeview terrace. i had been out the hood for a whole year living with my pops in little rock ca. raising goats and shit so nobody had seen me in a while.so when i walked in the party everybody was trippin like "yo where you been fool?" now i just got my jherri curl poppin and i had some floodin levis with penny loafers on with the white socks.now i heard there was a dude in the hood who was supposed to be the best at doing the michael jackson.i was standing watching the b boys getting down doing they thang when this dude jumped in the circle and started dancing like mike.i checked out his skills and kinda laughed cause he wasnt complete.he just had some of the moves.when he was done ,unexpected to everyone, i jumped in the circle and gave them the whole mowtown 25 billie jean routine.i must have killed it so hard they practicaly carried me out on they shoulders as if i just won the world series or somethin. when i got outside , one of the finest girls in the hood just came up to me and started kissing me in my mouth.i was like daaaamn! just when i was gettin too happy.my boy came up to me and was like "yo, thats _ _ _ _
girlfriend". he was one of the craziest gangsters in the hood. so my friend threw me in the car and i escaped with my life to be able to tell this story now.big up to william johnson ha ha ha.
well thats my michael story. im sure theres many more out there that wont be told.
   what yours?
anyway... rest in peace to the king! the guy who made tuxedo pants cool to wear.

my story isn't as hilarious as yours but its my second MJ memory (second to the primier on MTV of the "Thriller" video that my dad had us all watching and god knows what hour)...Anyways, when i was about 4 or 5 yrs old living in Portland, Oregon with my mom and dad, when they were still together, I remember sitting in the backseat of our spray-painted (multiple shades of blue and gray) VW BUG listening to  "Thriller" on the car stereo's 8trk. I can distinctly remember singing "if this town is just an apple then let me take a bite" Except it was more like "if this sound iyssus an appa then emme tag a bike" haha. The funny part is I didn't understand the concept of an album being the SAME person singing the whole time... I think "the girl is mine" duet really threw me off. I just remember asking at every single song, "is this still Michael Jackson?" I must have drove my parents crazy during that trip... And I also remember singing along to "Billie Jean" THOSE lyrics really threw my 4 year old brain for a loop "but the jud is not my sun"...

Your CD should be coming soon! :)
