Hey everyone,
I just got back from Hunting Island and the surfing is good - not great, but good enough to report about because the surf forecasters always underestimate our area, and it's extremely irritating - especially on decent days like this.
Waves were forecasted to be waist to shoulder, but they are actually waist to overhead with the tidal push (a.k.a right now) at ehhh...about 7 seconds but sometimes a little less. Max is 10 seconds but rare.
It's pretty choppy out there, but there is no current (yay!), so you won't have to fight. I didn't spot any riptides. Water isn't too chilly - ok for a bikini if you're hard-core, perfect with a springsuit and in my 3mm wetsuit I felt a little like, "Damn - should have worn my shortie".
Quick rain showers about 14 miles long - heavy at times with no thunder or lightening spotted in my area.
High tide today is at 3:20pm so get out there!
P.S. Friday is supposed to be the best day as of right now. High tide on Fri is 5:17.
