Good evening viewer.

Well...

This is the first time I've been on myspace in a couple months. It's been GREAT!! I seriously urge you to try it, and not just myspace. Take an online break from social networking sites like this and facebook etc... IT'S AWESOME (although I do now have over 200 messages to read, not so awesome). I've actually been OUTSIDE! With real people and everything! However, now that the nights are drawing in and it's getting colder, I've been gathering nuts for the winter and shall be hibernating any day now.
In all seriousness, I did decide not to log on here for a while. It started with a holiday (my first in 2 years) then when I got back to London I just decided not to check myspace. The longer it went on, the nicer it felt. I'm not on any of the other social network sites, but if I was I'd have done the same thing. Sometimes it's good to not have everyone know everything about you (and not assume anyone cares what you're doing- I don't get twitter).

So... what's been going on?

There's a new TV show. It's called X factor. I think it's a bit like opportunity knocks with learning difficulties.  Just kidding, I love it. Young Welsh girl is brilliant.

Man City are now good. Not entirely sure but think it might have something to do with money.

We can now give our "scrap gold" to some crazy lady in an advert. Have you seen those? Absolutely brilliant. They actually think we all have scrap gold lying about that we've forgotten about. I don't have scrap anything. If I did, I'd eat it.

In an interesting twist, one of the dancers on Strictly Come Dancing is a racist. Not really what I'm paying my license fee for.

I have discovered I am long sighted and am now wearing glasses to read. Getting old. Will soon go grey and get fat. Kind of looking forward to it.

John Lewis have their xmas section up. If I was in charge (which I am in a way) I'd just leave it up all year round and make everyone pretend it was December 25th. Anyone found to disagree would be shot.

Hi Dave
Glad to hear you had a good holiday well deserved. Hope you had a great birthday too.
Missed you not being on here heaps, as I don't get any news in NZ, only if it is depressing.  Humour here is hilarious, our ads are amazing and shocking at the same time.  Summer is here now so it is all coming good.

We have Austrailian Idol here at the moment, the singers aren't anything special though.  Brian Mc fadden and Delta are huge in Aussie, helped with the show etc.  Seen a great band here recently at the Bedford of all places and they picked up 2 awards in the Vodafone music awards here.  Ladyhawke got 7 apparantly she has been touring in the Uk and big there.

Well at least you only need reading glasses or you would have to compete with Elton John choosing a style.  My daughter works for Spec savers here, their ad isn't as good as the Uk one though.  I know what it's like to feel your'e getting old.

I love Xmas, not sure how we want to celebrate it this year yet though, as everyone has bbqs.

Take care
Phyllis

Hi Dave,

I’ve just had a holiday break up to Wester Ross, my first in the Highlands since my twenties! -  the scenery was very bonny and breathtaking.  Weather might have been better though – got totally drenched one day climbing to see these stones on Skye which were shrouded in mist anyway!  Got some good shots though I hope on the trip – not so used to landscapes photography – much happier at the gigs.

I use myspace for my photos and writing – so its part of my contacts. Must admit I don’t log on every day though. Facebook I forget about. Twitter for fast news gathering and gossip; Facebook for friends; myspace for webpages and artists – as far as I can see.  (I hope my word copy and paste doesn't make hUGE spaces on here, am getting a new computer soon)

I find myspace wonderful at times, awful at others. The hard part is seeing the really interesting bits among the rubbish.  I’d recommend not logging on every day – variety is the key thing. Actually I’ve met real people on here too- that I’ve met too in the real world.

Been reading Burns – total genius.

‘He is to me the poet of human growth,.. the power of regeneration. Leaves my fall, but only to compost the wide earth, and better days lie ahead.’ Andrew Hagan on Burns.

The summer is gone when the leaves they are green,

And the days are awa that we hae seen,

But far better days I trust will come again,

For my bonie laddie’s young but he’s growin yet. – (Lady Mary Ann)

My first train trip this Saturday since Scotcare last October - to Manchester for a live album shoot.  My dream shoot I think.  Party time!  Paulinex

PSS who on earth is voice coaching X factor this year? I don’t watch but out of curiosity watched Saturday. They’ve taken beautiful Welsh singer and tried to over bake her vocals to be Aretha?  What on earths that about?

Ah, the confidence to ditch social networking.  And take pride in it.  I thought I was just hating myspace, but you've put quite the spin on the ole digital habit of mine.  Broken.  By Facebook.  Guess I'm not really improving then am I?
Except I refuse Twitter... stupid name, stupid thing to do... follow each other around like a bunch of twits!  Ummm, no.
Well, at this rate, I will never see you perform, but so be it.  Maybe I'll see you on Strictly Come Dancing as a bassist. And in closing, I am proud to say-- I was not one of your 200 messages. Hehehe!
