Maya29....
Definitely a prog vibe going on here and the
Egyptian/Eastern vibes in your first track are a good addition as they add
mysticism to the proceedings. The vocals aren't strained either, and they fit
well, which is good. The production job is nice. I really like the meandering
vocals at the beginning of the second song too (Tonali) - just adds a mystic
vibe to it, it's quite hypnotic. I like the guitars in this too, as their chimy
effect is interesting to listen to. This is possibly your best song in my books
just because it's mesmerising and keeps you listening to see which new
direction the music takes. The Journey of Gods has a different vibe to the
other songs, not being quite so proggy, maybe even a little more poppy in
places than your other songs. Overall, it's a nice sounding EP; Well done!

Maya29 - thisisnotforyou
(demo)
Maya29 are a two-piece act whose three track demo is a remarkable
slice of assured prog metal. Taking in elements of Tool, they manage nevertheless
to craft their own sound thanks primarily to Karen Bradford's vocals.
The songs featured here are as impressive as the erotic novel
from which they've swiped their name, and if it wasn't for the fact that
it's the lowest common denominator that sells in this country, I'd predict
big things for them.
