What a weekend!!!...lots of food with Family on Thursday where my dog Ziggy the Italian Stallion (I have an Italian Greyhound) ran his ass off with a couple of other dogs (mutts of some sort). People, you need to spay and neuter your dogs if they are not going to be fucking on a regular basis. One of the mutts kept sniffing my dogs ass and it was driving him mad. At one point my dog got so sick and tired of it he jumped on the dining table as a means of escape from the unbearable harassment and torture. I wanted to punt kick the mutt in his nuts, but of course the fact that he belongs to my aunt negates that whole concept. Anyhow, once we got over the dogs, we got on to eating our food and watched a Telethon on KCET. We decided to donate $1,000 on behalf of VOKEE to the cause. It felt good to see other non-Armenians in the entertainment business supporting the Armenians and their message as well. If you need more info about the whole thing check out armeniafund.org

Friday was FUCKING INSANE!!! We had a show at the Knitting Factory in Hollywood. I showed up around 10:30pm...said hello to some cool heads who were hanging out backstage and started the warm-ups. Once all the guys we're together backstage we had our ritual of taking a couple of minutes to huddle up and get rooted as a group. My cousin Andy was there as always helping us with our gear on stage...yo! His sister Anahit was shooting some video that night. She's been helping us out as much as she can too. I'll try to post some of the footage up soon.

As some of you may already know we have a new member we have added to the band. His name is Brian Vasquez and you can check him out over at myspace.com/brianvasquez Brian works over at KROQ here in Los Angeles and is one of the sickest DJ/programmers in town. Since meeting him, we've also met some other cool heads over at the station. Kat Corbett has been giving us love on Locals Only. You can listen to her announcing us on our page HERE. Our new friend Johnny from KROQ has been showing us love...whats up man! One of our newest friends is Nicole Alvarez. What a cool chick! All week before the show she was talking about the band and our show. It was the coolest thing to hear her sincerely say how much she digs the band. The band had a chance to hang out with her after the show and had a blast!!! Thanks Nicole. Check out Nicoles myspace HERE

Now for the show. You guys that were there that can second me on this, but I think it's safe to say that the show was one of our best to date. A lot of people there hadn't seen us perform with Brian since it was only our fourth(?) show with him, but I'm sure there were people there who had never seen us live. Right off the bat I could tell it was going to be a fun night because as I walked on stage there was a big group of kids yelling and screaming VOKEE!!!VOKEE!!!VOKEE!!!...you guys make nights like that the best! We started with Sorrow. Thanks for the help with the vocals guys. It's got to be one of the best feelings on Earth to write a song and have people sing the song with you as your singing it on stage. We played our new song Fire Away second. Everyone warmed up with the first song but it was obvious that by the second song everyone was REALLY feeling the vibes. I witnessed one of the most bizarre things I have ever seen that night. A mosh pit broke out with all the heads who wanted to throw each other around and 10 feet from the mosh pit a big group of people were dancing. Not just moving their heads up and down, DANCING...like how you do when you go to a good party with a sick DJ, ya' like that! ROCK HEADS MEET DANCE HEADS read the headlines..and everyone got along just fine. Third song was Hands of Time. We threw down a bit of a jam right after Hands of Time. We've been getting a lot better as a group with our live jamming. I have a lot of people coming up to me after the shows and telling us how much they really enjoy that aspect of our group. We'll definitely be doing more of that at future shows. Next was Burn. This was the song that pushed the whole night over the 9 mark. Everybody was getting down hard to this one. We followed it by playing our new version of Angels. Brian recently remixed the song, so we've been playing that version live for the past few shows.(as a side note, remix of Burn is coming soon.) I almost forgot to mention that between most of the songs the whole crowd was celebrating by taking shots of Kettle One being poured by yours truly from the stage. Hope you guys enjoyed every last drop! We did another jam after Angels. I noticed our friend MC Dino was in the crowd, so I grabbed another microphone and called him on stage to join in on the jam. Check him out myspace.com/mcdino We ended off the set with Signs. Last thing I remember seeing was someone on top of someone else's shoulders twirling a shirt and a whole bunch of people chanting VOKEE! VOKEE! VOKEE! Can't tell you how good it feels to be a part of a band that is writing its own book one page at a time.

Great blog. It was truly an amazing night. No doubt one of your best live shows. The first performance I saw with Brian as part of the band was back in August(?) I think. I love him. He really brings a new element into the music. I can't express how much fun I had. Maybe a little too much. ;D
I was one of those kids up front. Thanks for a great time.
