On behalf of the project sponsors and the Welcome Home Project, we wish to invite all your friends to join us for the record breaking song at the event. We will have most all of the Voices artists playing and singing on stage and we are inviting all Texas Musicians to join us when we take the record from Germany. They are the current record holder with around 1807 guitars and we are well on our way to register 2000 players! We anticipate that we will have both television coverage, as well as, a video documentary for the event. This event is a benefit fund raiser for the Welcome Home Project to help pay for guitar lessons for Veterans with Traumatic Brain Injuries as music therapy and healing upon their return home from Iraq and Afghanistan.
The Pickin' for the Record is going to be a wonderful and challenging day! The songs that we will be doing are: “Back to the Basics of Love” (the Luckenbach song), and “This Land Is Your Land” - the Woody Guthrie original! The songs and chord charts are posted on our Voices website, take the link to the "Pickin' Song Charts".

Luckenbach, Texas, Cheatham St Warehouse and The Kerrville Folk Festival join together to support the Voices of a Grateful Nation Project. All proceeds from the Guinness World Record event will go to the project.
The event will take place on August 23rd, 2009 in Luckenbach, Texas. We need 2000 guitar players to sign up at
www.voicesofagratefulnation.org. The registration fee is $10 per player. Each registered participant will receive commemorative Dog Tags, a T-shirt and of course, braggin’ rights.
If you signed up your registration with additional payment for other individuals we will need all the folks together at the gate and they can register and get their t-shirts then.
Anyone can register online at the
www.voicesofagratefulnation.org website with a credit card. We need each player registered separately because we have to keep the records straight for the Guinness people.
The best part about this event - we are supporting our troops and their families.
Everyone will check in either on Saturday Aug 22 or Sunday the 23rd. You will receive dog tags, t-shirt and player number lanyard once you are accounted for in person. We will be selling additional t-shirts the day of the event to anyone who wants one that is not playing. It is important that only actual players register online or mail in their registration so that our numbers are accurate. The $10 fee is for registration only. Not for the purchase of a T-shirt. Registered people get a t-shirt and dog tag for free...
We will perform 2 songs, “The Luckenbach Song (Back to the Basics of Love)” and “This Land is your Land”. There will be lead guitars for both songs. We have to play each song for a total of 5 minutes. The event will be recorded by video and audio. By registering, you consent to being recorded.
The day will start at 12 noon with an acoustic performance on our outdoor stage. At 2pm, we will assemble on the hill between the creeks in Luckenbach and perform the songs. The record breaking party will continue thru out the day with performances from artists on the 2 disc Voices compilation.
