"In My Room," is, of course, a Beach Boys' cover I did in 2002 for the "Making God Smile" tribute to Brian Wilson. I did all the vocals, guitars, and bass. Dale Baker did the drumming and bells and stuff. Word is that Brian Wilson heard it and dug it.

"Movie"

Recorded Live at Eddie's Attic, 9/22/06

Lately this is my favorite song to play. Written about the feeling you get when you're really into someone and you really hope she calls and she doesn't call.

Also the feeling you get in the movies when you see something so true and that feeling sinks inside of you and becomes you and you become it.

Also, Yul Brynner from "The Magnificent Seven" sneaked in there.

I went out to the movie
I got lost on my way down
Oh so dark at the movie
I don't want to be found

See the hard-bitten hero
In the West, out on his own
Riding with the sun in his eyes,
I don't want to go home

Hey that's me up there
Yeah, that's me up there
Shining

I got lost in your eyes
Waiting for you to call
I forget what they shine like
No, I can't say at all

But they call me out
When they look at me
Oh so dark at the movie
I just want to be free

Cause that's me up there
Yeah, that's me up there
Shining

Now I'm sinking in my seat
Just beneath that beam of light
That's my dim blue Damascus
I just want to be right

Cause that's me up there
that's me up there
Shining

haha.  No the official title is "Movie." At least for now.  I figured after "Lion Song" I've used up my alotment of using the word "song" in a song title.

There's always the option of "song" in different languages.

German - Lied
French - Chanson
Italian - Canzone
Spanish - Canción

Or get really geeky and include the form in the title "Strophic Movie Lied". That might be going too far, though.

(Regardless of title, I really like the song.)

OR you can fully embrace it and record an album based on songs with "song" in the title.  There'd be some sweet covers in there...  like Ben Folds Five's "Song for the Dumped" and Dave Matthew's "Christmas Song" and...um...maybe not.

"Hard-Bitten Hero" wouldn't be a bad title!  :)  It is indeed a good song, and your cover of "In My Room" is delightful as well.  I remember getting a mass email a long while ago about you doing that song for the tribute album, but had not heard it until tonight.  Well done!

Beautiful song, bro. It's been about two years since I got to hear you play, and hence, the same since I've heard a new riff. Thanks man.

So glad that to know that someone else appreciates and connects with Yul Brynner. The Magnificent Seven is one of my all-time favorites!
