Yep it's true. They aren't putting a moratorium on coal or nuclear. They are putting the moratorium on solar energy projects.

Funny how they cite an environmental impact study for the moratorium, but have no problem with locking in 50 years of coal plants. Where's the environmental impact study there?

I'd say it's weak and pathetic, but actually I think it shows how strong oil and coal are in this society and they have the politicians in their back pocket and pull them out whenever they see a threat to their hegemony.

Anyway, like Joe Hill said "Don't mourn, organize!"

Thanks for pointing out this article. I'd heard about the expiration of incentives killing Solar development, but this is outrageous.

But the, the government is completely privatized by now. This is exactly what the people want. If they didn't want Orwellian wars, there would have been an anti-war movement. If they don't want high gas and heat-waves and fires, they would have insisted on Solar instead of debunking global climate change for the past 3 decades.

I have less and less faith that Obama would mean any good news for solar, probably he'll organize a faith-based intitative for us all to pray in a mega-church for guidance...

Bobby Kennedy JR. wrote an excellent piece decades ago aout how if we just mandaded 40mpg gas back then, we'dbe off foreign oil. But that is not what the people want. What the people of the USA truly want is to shoot things, to buy into fat-cat dreams of the mega rich.

The people of this nation have morphed themselves into hollow mega-churched, bible-belted consumerists, and pray to their Vegas fixations of greed, god and guns. War gives them a sense of purpose. Regulating industrial mega-capitalists is against their religion of greed. They bought into Reaganomics 40 yeas ago, and they still think it worked.

Truly I fear the only thing that will drive the people into some sort of humble reality is not 'the audacity of hope', but all-out dust-bowl depression. This is where they are likely headed, and this is what they deserve.
