Ok soooo i finally made it home and man oh man i'm completely sleep deprived and should totally be in bed but i had to write this blog about STANDOUT first....

Me & the band left at midnight to head up to michigan and it was about 12-13 hrs.... When we got there we unloaded and hadn't slept the whole night...lol Over the course of the weekend the lack of sleep seemed to be the ongoing theme... But the craziest thing is though i was COMPLETELY EXHAUSTED - i wouldn't have traded getting to see my Basement Kids from my former youth group and the STANDOUT kids for anything!

Our experience there was beyond AMAZING! God was totally in the midst & you could feel His presence sooo thick the whole weekend.... Several times i found myself becoming totally emotional because STANDOUT was something that i created at ANDREWS UNIVERSITY 2 years ago and to see the 3rd one grow as much as it did and how incredible of a job Andrea and her team did - it gave me such a peace in my heart seeing how God has worked!!!:)

But i think what brought tears to my eyes the most was seeing how much my kids had grown in God! When i left michigan i had quite a few kids that were picking up the guitar and dabbling in songwriting and just trying to know God better.... and a few years later i come back to see these passionate young people writing AMAZING music & just talking about their experiences with GOD! I was sooo beyond MOVED by this! There are sooo many young people that miss out on having an experience with God in their youth & it means alot to me to see my old youth group kids and kids from the first standout embrace God in such a bold way!!!! I just want you guys to know i'm extremely proud of u!

I want you to know that it was also very meaningful to finally be able to go back to michigan and share my music with all of you guys that mean sooo much to me & inspired INSIDE & HERE WITH ME (2 of my favorite songs i've written)! i just wanted u to know that!!! I hope that something i said or sang in my concert touched your heart & made you think about being even closer to Him! He is my EVERYTHING & I seriously can't wait till heaven because then my michigan people, texas people and well all my people will be in one place & we will all be able to worship the ONE who made us and who has LOVED us all along together!!!! I CAN'T WAIT! Thank you for making my journey back sooooo INCREDIBLE!!!!

ps To the new kids that i met at STANDOUT - I just want you to know that i was seriously blown away by how fast you let down your guards and let God in! There was an AMAZING Spirit there this weekend & it was awesome to see soo many of you give your lives to God! Never forget that He who began a good work in you is faithful to complete it!!!

This is so awesome! I'm so happy that you were able to have such a great experience. It is tremendous to hear that something you began has grown so much! It proves how God is working through your life and your music. It is your love for God that inspires those of us who know you. You touch lives of people you'll never know and it's all because you surrender yourself to God's will. Keep up the good works in the Lord! You have my utmost respect and sincerest love in Christ! It is so Awesome...How you have had opened your heart & soul to the kids in Michigan, it just proves how God is working through your music and the love for God that inspires all of us who know you. You have a blessed way about you and how you have help change these young lives that you keep doing what your doing for God & family.

Sounds like it was so amazing and that God really was at work in people lives, i do have to say though it was misssing 1 thing that would of made it loads better ... can you guess what??? ME ... hahha

Maria,

I can see God is continuing to work in your life to bring you up to more than you can be. Keep the faith and never loose hope. I wish you were there to hear me play the song I wrote, but I guess you'll have to wait till we see each other again. I know where my life lies, and without God, I'd be nothing. Thanks for being MARIA :) There's a lot I wanted to tell you, especially me picking up the guitar, but there's been alot of things I've had think about and decide on. Be praying for me because the decision I make will either change or affect my youth in a big way, and I hope they'll be alright without me.

maria, i truly hope that you have half the blessings you gave to steve and i and the young people we brought to standout. steve wants to move to arkansas because you are the coolest pastors wife and therefore your husband would have to be kinda cool.lol your music is amazing but your love for Christ is what blew us away the most, you proved our point the God doesnt sterotype thanks keep up the great work and we will see you again somewhere.

This is Kayleen, I saw you at your concert Saturday Night at Burman. I only saw you for a sec though, I'm Jared's girlfriend (in case you didn't know). I'd really been looking forward to meeting you, like everyone I know knows you and thinks you're amazing. I loved your music, I like literally cried the WHOLE CONCERT..... lol. It really got to me. I'm a huge lyrics person, I take my music really personally. But to find amazing lyrics coupled with a heartwrenching melody, is rare. You have such a great talent, I really admire you. I sing and write, and someday if thats what God wants for me, I hope I can share that. I hope I get the chance to get to know you someday =]

This is soo amazing! I really don't even know what to say. I honestly wish I could travel with you and your band beacuse there have only been a few certain people whose presence has brought God into my heart in such a wonderful way...and lol your one of them. I barely know you but I have to say you are a very special person, and its funny because you wrote on my CD that you could see God in my smile and I swear He was making me smile that weekend. Well since I'm not with you now, I guess all I can say is that I really hope that you continue doing what your doing because every time you sing you change another life like mine and that is a lot to be proud of.
