Current mood: pensive
So theres this trend going on with mattress dealers here in LA. I'm not sure if its spread to other parts of the country yet, so if not, this won't mean much to most of you. (I've just started doing these blog thingies, and they feel a little bit like public masturbation, but I'm going to go ahead and write this anyway, even if I'm the only one enjoying myself.) So, these mattress dealers have come up with a new slogan, "We will beat any other mattress dealer's advertised price, or your mattress is free!" Now this slogan sounds fantastic to the ear...in fact, it made my eyes twinkle, and dreams of me curled up on my new free mattress, danced in my head. But then I got to thinking, and after some deep, contemplative thought, I realized that dreams of me stretching out on my new free mattress, while reading US magazine with the wall ac unit on, may never come true. I mean, if I found a really cheaply advertised mattress in the paper from one mattress dealer, would another dealer simply say, "my god sir, there is no way I can beat that price...it's just plain impossible. Here son, take this mattress for free and be on your way."
Yes, Ive realized that the mattress slogan is probably a bit of a scam, so I ask all who read this, this question: Has anyone out there ever received a free mattress because an advertised price simply couldnt be beat?
