Palin On Ethics Investigation, Unproductive VP Post
Sarah Palin, as it turns out, is a former beauty queen, ex- high school basketball star and onetime TV sportscaster. She's also the subject of an ethics investigation in her home state of Alaska that's connected to her firing of the state's public safety commissioner.
The commissioner, Walt Monegan, alleged he had been pressure to fire a trooper who had been married to Palin's sister and split with her in an ugly divorce.
The Alaska state Legislature voted last month to hire an independent investigator to probe whether Palin or anyone connected to her had pushed Monegan to fire the trooper, Mike Wooten.
She inists she did nothing wrong, and says as much in this July 31 CNBC interview, during she twice employs the word "cool" - as in being governor of Alaska is a " pretty cool" job and she's "cool" with being investigated.
More recently, Palin admitted some members of her staff contacted the Department of Public Safety about Wooten, who is involved in a child custody battle with the governor's sister. She said she assumed the calls were made "because of personal concern for the well-being of my family."
In the same interview, Palin pans the vice president's office, saying she's unclear on what the VP actually does and suggests she's too productive for the job.
