There has been significant interest in a Tenants Association, so an association is formed!  I need input - when and where should everyone meet? How Often? What issues need to be discussed? Besides....

1. Most people are fired up about our bedbug problem.  We really need to find out for sure who has them and who doesn't for sure.  I have heard from some people, but not nearly enough! Please email me with your apartment number, and whether or not you currently have or do not have a problem with bedbugs. Rumors are welcome too! I will never re-post any info to accuse or identify anyone's apartment numbers, names, or anythng else without permission.

Please post any ideas.  Also, I'll be beefing up the content of our page, so if you have any ideas that you'd like me to impliment, send those along too! Remember, you can always message me with private info and I will protect your identity.

Yay!! So glad to see this coming together. :)
Meetings could be held quarterly, and as needed (e.g. when 248 has a mass infestation of BED BUGS!!!!)

At the first meeting there should definately be discussion of the bedbug problem and how to "bed bug" proof your space.

:)

I think quarterly would be a good idea too. Plus, a meeting would be a great way for us to get to know some other ppl in the apartment too. Also, it would be a good time to discuss the police on the roof etc. Probably setting a date in the evening would be the first step. Set a date, and we'll put up posters. I actaully think it will be great!

Agreed indeed. I just moved in and am a little worried about this bedbug business. My apt seems ok so far. However I was kicked off the roof by the police on the very night I moved in (hell of a housewarming party).

Set a date and a place to meet and my roomates and I will be there for sure.

Actually, I've found the space somewhat resonably priced. Oh, you do realize that this is a residential building, don't you? Regardless of the "slumming it" attitude of many tenants, 248 McKibbin is neither illegal nor anywhere near the fringe. But that's what you pay for, security. There is no possibility you will be kicked out onto the street by the Department of Buildings like people living illegally in other warehouse spaces. For zoned and certified residential space, per square foot it's not a bad deal.

Here's a suggestion: Why doesn't the tenant's association complain to the local US Post Office about our terrible mail carrier (not that it will accomplish anything).

Did everyone notice that he's now leaving packages in the lobby? WTF? Anyone can walk off with anyone's packages. For this reason (and others) I can't have anything delivered to 248. He's supposed to leave a missed delivery notice, although I don't know what's worse, having your packages stolen or waiting 3 hours for zombie-like postal employees to (not) find your package at the Debevoise Street branch. Also, the mail carrier has a REALLY hard time telling the difference between the apartment letters J, L and I. I mean, come on! The ability to tell the difference between similar letters should be the minimum requirement of a postal carrier.

And here's the kicker: This is the truth; a tenant was actually overheard in the lobby telling the mail carrier, "Hey you know that people are supposed to leave you a christmas tip in their mailboxes" and the mailman was like, "Uh, really?"

YOU IDIOT!

That's all we need is this completely incompetent mailman to feel like the tenants of this building somehow gave him the shaft. Although I can't really imagine how he could become a worse mail carrier in retaliation.
