Greetings Chakaholics
I wanted to share one of the most incredible performances by the late Luther Vandross that I have ever seen. There have been countless stars in music, BUT to reach the 'One Name Iconic Status', you have to be something special! These are Icons that paid their dues through decades of hard work, and are (for the most part) known immediately by their first name...Aretha, Chaka, Patti, Ella, Diana, Sarah, Dionne, Miles, Ray, Quincy, Gladys, Marvin, Stevie, and Luther (the list goes on). Icons like Luther, possess a unique style, and that rare 'it' factor which makes them truly once in a lifetime. It's hard to believe that Luther is no longer with us, but performances, like this one from the 1988 NAACP Image Awards, are wonders to behold. Sit back and enjoy a true icon at work 20 years ago!
