CHICO -- A woman was arrested early Saturday morning for allegedly stabbing her boyfriend during an argument.
Duval Russell, 24, and Saira Ecker, 29, allegedly started arguing inside their vehicle between Sixth and Seventh streets on Magnolia Avenue Friday evening. A stabbing was reported to police at 9:39 p.m.
The couple was found by police at the Matador Motel, 1934 The Esplanade. Russell was taken to Enloe Medical Center for his injuries that were determined not to be life threatening. He refused to give a detailed description of the incident to police.
Ecker was arrested at 12:20 a.m. Saturday and booked into Butte County Jail with charges of assault with a deadly weapon and domestic violence.
Any witnesses to the incident are asked to contact the Chico Police Department at 897-4900.

She should be arrested and prosecuted even if he doesn't want to file charges, she committed a crime. When a guy punches his girlfriend or wife and breaks her nose she may not want to file charges because she thinks when he gets out he will harm her again. That's why its not up to the victim.
Hopefully next time she gets angry she won't pull a knife. |

The crime is not only against the victim, but against the People. Violent crimes degrade communiites and destroy the sense of safety and security that our constitution promises. Also, many victims are scared to stand against the people who do them harm. Should we ignore their plight?
