Mike and I had a GREAT time at the NACA conference this past weekend. The showcase, while scary (hello, big red digital clock with five minutes counting down in front of you) went so well. We decided to throw in a cover of "Girls Just Want to Have Fun," and while I couldn't see the audience in the blaring spotlight, I could hear them singing along the whole time. Fab. We played a short version of "Comfort" (which we really could have done fully...I write short songs) that went over well, too, and our booth was swarming at the start of the "Marketplace" (we had a booth, as you'll see below). I don't have any official news to share yet, but I certainly hope to have some college shows for Spring '09 posted soon!



Just for fun, I thought I'd post this photo of me with...Mr Belding! I think his name is actually Dennis Haskins, but it seems fair to use his character name here, because he was there with his agent representing an act called "Mr Belding Comes to Campus." He happened to be on the other side of our curtain, so as it got late into that first night, he overheard we had chocolate. He was pumped, and we were pumped that he came over, and thus, took the photo above.

On a serious note, I was just looking into how I might help local fire victims, and it seems that maybe the best organization to donate to is the local Red Cross. Our thoughts go out to those who've been devastated by the recent fires. And PLEASE - if you see anyone smoking or starting a campfire in an area where you know they shouldn't, tell them to put it out and/or tell a ranger! Mike and I (ok really just Mike) have confronted people in Griffith Park. A moment of awkwardness could save acres of forest, homes, and lives.
