Current mood:  cranky
So I got these stupid braces put on my face thinking that I wanted a beautiful smile.  I was wrong.  They hurt, I can't eat what I want, and they are ripping apart the inside of my mouth.  What 28 year old in their right mind gets braces?!  Why didn't everyone talk me out of this torture?  I'm an idiot.  I'm really surprised that teenages put up with this shit.  That is my only motivation, if some punk kid can do this for 3-4 years, then I can suffer for 1 year I suppose.  That is all.

Did the orthodontist give you wax? If so, use it!!!! it will help protect the inside of your mouth; however, your mouth will kinda need to build up "callises" in order for the braces not to rub you raw. It will get easier with time. Give it a few days and you'll be fine. Load up on the Advil to reduce the pressure and use the wax if you feel like the braces are breaking the skin on the inside of your mouth.
Good Luck!!!!

AHHHHH!!! YES!! Wax is now going to become your best friend.. Listen to Michelle... And have some pain relievers always in your purse... It make take a while for your mouth to get used to it, but it will. I just pray, for your sake, the wire never protrude out... That hurts like HELL!!! But if that does happen... warm salt water or an antiseptic rinse. An over-the-counter dental anesthetic can also be applied to numb the area, and that helps a lot. Welcome to the world that I had for almost 10 years (4th-10th grades). I am so sorry you have to deal with it now.. but before you know it, you will have a BEAUTIFUL PERFECT SMILE, and you will love the fact that you lived through all the BS! I WANT PICTURES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Loves, HB :-)

P.S. Your not an idiot....

Ohhh does this bring back memories. And unfortunately, not the best ones. But I agree with Michelle and Heather's expert advice - wax and pain relievers are a good thing!!!! I also recommend orajel. This can numb various areas directly as your are wearing in the callus areas.

To be honest, even though I hated my braces (had them for 3 years)... I STILL love my straight teeth and wear my retainer regularly to make sure they stay that way. I think it was totally worth it..even at 28!!!

Good luck!
