theExitingARMtour DIARY by subtle… 5/7 SanFrancisco
dose: Ahhhh show Alpha… Always an adventure of downhill proportions… We took to the day with shouldbee's in our chest, And errands at our back…. Rental cars were "tetris'd" full of belongings merch and gear… And we headed to thegareatAmericanMusicHall, Where the staff is thick with friends…and shows are always warm…
Tonight was Jel's 30th, birthday…and we bought him a gigiantic Cheeseburger shaped cake…and surprised him with it, between theNo and deathful….His "cake for me" face was priceless and bestfriend perfect…. Dax was there in full effect, and remarkably we made it through the 1st time playing all the new ExARM lovelys…. We also survived the first night in our new stage configurastion… Alls fair in love and revitilization… Some times it is the slightest changes that are the most shocking to the system….
jel: 1 highlight of the SF show : eating a cheese burger bithday cake that tasted like Dawn from EnVougue , a bunch of strawberries.
Quote of the Day: "that's the title for the next record, 'put your fucking finger in his birthday cake'" -dose
5/8 driveday
dose: well we wreaked havoc on the interstate and rental car insides with the FLIP cameras Dax bought for all of us…. I decided to interview people as a beat reporter for "highlights"…which is a conservative Christian childrens magazine from the 80's…. Our first victim was a man in a giant pickle costume….and in proper 1st day of tour fashion, it all ended up with me and patrick getting chased down the street by a giant pickle….in a sailor hat…. When we hit the motel6, I set up OughtAlmanac shop in the parking lot, and got to book making….took a few hours, and I gradually met every curious ghost in the hotel that night…including the uptight hotel manager, who was not sure if my painting his black parking lot black was such a good idea…. Until he examined by flash light the similarities between my black and his black…. Then we signed cd cover and watched adult swim till the snoreing commenced….
Jel: I went to drug store and got an inflatable pig for punching….and toughtt it to smoke, sing, hemerage, and get fisted….
Quote of the Day: "Tool, has a song called 'prison sex', on the radio, that we're listening to, right now…." -jel
5/9 Portland.
dose: We are heading into the DougFir…best club in the US… ExitingARM cd's are waiting for us there…and the trunk is full of finished Almanac's….today is the official start of tour….in my book….
Efterklang and stralfenland, were awesome….entirely….perfect people….open and playing their music for all the right reasons… Stralfenland was my favorite in a surefire way….it was so lovely to see something inspireing, that I had truly, "never heard of"… And while watching them, I also fell in love with the fact that all of them sing, so in essence there was no front man….simply a group giving its all….
jel: The waitress at the Heart café in Grant's Pass Oregon absolutely new we weren't from GP, because she comes from Pataluma Navada, and has a special skill of knowing, off the bat, if "your not from around here."
Quote of the Day: "I don't trust rich hippies…" -Patrick
5/10 seattle
dose:We rolled in early to meet frank, our favoritist publicist…and go perform on KEXP….
We pretty much killed it, considering the "brand newness" of the songs…. Felt good, and the dude interviewing me was very stiff, so it was a blast to tickle his radio personality and watch him squirm…. All in all, truly was a great warm up for the show…
And in turn, we finally stuck the set…rest of the tour like that, and we can die with grins on….our Danish soul brothers were great again….and we hung with our seattle loved one's till the sun rose….
jel: seattle…new venue…for us…with a little "green room" trailor in the back where adam got accosted by this questionably racist fan…asking him to repeat an obvious turn of the century, southern styled tongue twister…fucking unbelievable.
Quote of the Day: "what do you get when you cross a parrot and a cat…a carrot" - truck stop menue
5/11 driveday
dose: so we dumped everyone's flip footage….and I started editing our first "on the road" installment of (inside)theExitingARMtour…. We also listened to tons of hometapes records….and xm-comedy radio…. We pulled into boise at midnight….and the rest was sleep…
Big up…pattern is movement
jel: I think we had enough weed to be comfortable farting in the car all day???
Quote of the Day: "what did the parakeet say to the two jews…..cheap cheap'" - bad xm redneck comedian 2080 5/12 salt lake
dose: well we woke to some early Patrick piterpatter at the motel door… and piled into the car, dundudndun….for cracker barrel….and boy was it the staple it has always been….uncle hershals bitchs…
Then we drove to the mormon mouth of all happeneing…. After getting a little too "punchy" in the car, we arrived, and had a wonderful evening in one of our favorite towns…
It's odd but true…the borderline oppressive/conservative air in certain citys…truly makes for the coolest of young people…it sets them against themselves and their surroundings in such a desperate but creative& correct way… Salt lake reminds me of Cincinnati when anticon met over the conservative monkeybars, of porkoplolis, some ten years ago….
The show itself was the best yet….off the chain, and the ever resilient crowd, kept feeding our fire…kind of folks that make you wish you had an everlasting encore for them….
jel: Salt Lake was great…kids were wild as usual….Will of (the Future of the Ghost) our promoter is and was an angel….and we found out what the driest part of a vegan woman's body is.
Quote of the Day: "Cannon&Match Attorney's at Law" –A billboard
5/13 Denver Dose: Runnin on 3 hours sleep today…and all of us are paying for it… Well I have to say, highlight of the day, was jeff's masterful triumph over the claw grabber machine…..he got a racist raisin….not a california raisin, its one of those over franchised knock offs…. And then when we got in the car, to mock it, and make it dance on the dashboard, we turned on xm radio to get some soul music….and "I heard it through the grapevine" was on the radio…no lie….the rest is all inside joke…
Eventually we got to Denver….and got things rolling….venue staff at the bluebird was splendid, fine folks….and eventually we had a pretty healthy sized crowd….however the dinner-time concert vibe, always makes for a slightly inhibited performance… If the crowd doesn't cut completely loose…it is hard for us to do so….
Then we headed to the hotel, on the way I broke out in a 20 minute McMiraslov freestyle session, of galactic broken-english proportions…and we laughed our way to bed.,…
Jel: Denver is a city highly elevated in a big mountan range in Colorodo…..the Blue bird was a great venue with a very pleasant and helpful staff……the back stage was down stairs and in the wall near the steps going to the basment had about 12 rotting squirells or at least 3 rotting raccoons trapped inside……nag champa really brings out the sweetness in the scent death…
Quote of the Day: "that little cunt Kimmy Gibler, I never should have fucked her" -bob sagat
5/14 driveday Dose:ahhhhhhhh…the drive day…so good for my tiny throat….today is a somewhat heavy aired day.,….we have to drive past where our car accident was some three years ago…..it does not have us wracked with fear, but I'd be lying to say we aren't all thinking about it….for most people Omaha is a place to never meet or remember, for us….it is a tiny slice of hell, we will never forget…
That being said we are trying to keep spirits on the bubble&squeak….soi we are going to make a wall mart run….i need 9volts…and more paint to finish the rest of the alamanacs…. And we are going to get us a greenroom, dart board….ten dollar investment, in the practical iradication of backstage boredom….
I have recently become obsessed with darts, and the obsession has successfully spread to the rest of the gang….
Well we ate at texas t-bone in omaha….for supper….and prayed and prayed that the toby keith rap song would come on the country music channel…so we could all bust gut….but instead we got to mock some new don Henley….
Jel: rout 80… nebraska ..iowa…uhh..yeah..in the car..yep.
Quote of the Day: " isn't zooming, blowing coke up someones ass with a straw"- jel
5/15 Minneapolis Dose:well today was the day…..pitchfork review hit the air….written by none other than chris dahlen…one of our finest appreciators and critics…..in fact its one of the few true flush critic art relationships I have….and I treasure it…to have someone you send your worlk to that you know you trust, and who truly dissects it with a steady and objective pen…. I prefer it so much, to the nominal "one-sheet" rephrasal review we have all grown so accustomed to reading…. And it was great, entirely positive….and even unferled new perspectives on the record, I had yet to appreciate myself….
And such a relief…..i wonder if pitchfork knows how powerful their pressures have become….they are fast becoming the "god's of weather"…as artists pray for a "rainy season"….or "no locusts"….being hopeful and fearful, of a perspective shapeing force, outside yourself, that you can only influence and never control….
Its healthy for us all….world knows, it doesn't need another egomaniac in leather pants, calling himself the next ozzy lennon….
So we are happy to have been heard…as we press pedal to metal….in pursuit of the ever stationary twin cities greater area….
We love Minneapolis…its where it all started for jeff and i…deep puddle dynamics once budded in a basement there some ten years ago….
And the one thing in minni, I love more than minni….is Andrew "motherfucking" broder The skinny rhytm and blues kung-fu comedian behind all things fog….
He is not only a dear friend to me, but he is one of the few peer's…who's work makes my eyes water, and entire body chill….he is a hero of mine…and his additions and inadvertent influences on my aesthetic, are irreplaceable and irreversible…
Plus we finna kill it tonight….like ICE-T signing jugs at a HOOTERS grand opening….
Andrew and locks were stunning….andrew's new guitar only ambient noise making, was utterly head stretching….i am so honored to know such a true gift haver….he has six months of life crisis and day-job…and then I see him again…and he can improvise music that casts shadow on all my flying saucer attack records….hero in thin skin armor for sure
Jel: We had a really fun show with family locks and big Broady… TIP1 .if your ever in front or on the 7th street side of 1st ave….and with in 5 minutes you get bombarded with "hey gimmy a cigarette" to "excuse me …I mean no disrespect …I'm an upstanding citizen and I would never disrespect……" just tell them all that you work at the venue and they will apologize profusely whi;e they walk away.
Quote of the Day: "bloggers don't read…." -patrick
5/16 Madison Dose:well, we woke and had a big old breakfast at the seward, our usual spot, then began to bounce….i rode with Andrew in his rental car…..where we began in the mud and blood, of depressing conversations about the unbearable reality of our current lives….how generous we have always been with our giving into the art we feel needs be made….and the current anything but generous, new way of consumeing music, which the wide world is currently adjusting too….and eventually had to derail the train and talk about…what else…..makeing music together of coarse….
So funny, we had painted our future black and impossible to see through…then the only thing we felt compelled to talk about after that, is how much we have always wanted to make music together….so we set it as date, in the cold stone of our consternation….
Madison was quiet and collegiate…it was graduation nite….but the crowd was thick with utter appreciators….in fact I met one of the gentleman who is on the cover with his wifey….in good ghost form….show was great, best set yet in my opinion…
Jel: the most beer bottles cups and can I have ever seen in at one bar…about 300 bags overflowing…collage town…graduation….wisconsin….
Quote of the Day: "yeah you had more people as the VonBondies" – our promoter
5/17 Chicago Dose: Well, unfortunately, we are rolling on no hours sleep again….after driving to Milwaukee last night,post-show, to stay with our good friend alex….guitar maker and nice guy extroirdinare… So we hit the cracker barrel, and drove drowsy to the town of wind….
I finished painting the remaining 20 OughtAlmanac's behind the empty bottle, again interrupted by curious folks who assume me to be a vandal, and not an author…. (this time they were half right, since jel took my flat black and wrote his rap name on the dumpster)
so tonight we got to meet pit er pat…a band whom we were introduced to by Patrick…and have fallen madly in love with since, their music is reminiscent of only their own….careful, self taught, and bright with life…. And I tell you, once in a blue moon, you meet a band, that is really soul mates in disguise….as the lot of us hit it off all evening…laughing singing and standing in the center of our art…they had some amp troubles in their set, which ghosted them a bit…but I am such a fan, I could only grin and bang my head vigorously to all of it….
And locks was great as well, Patrick is fast becoming a favorite musician of mine…. Someone who inspires me to un-learn and tighten up at the same time…
Jel: Pit er pat was great people and players….jordan got a taste of wasting a day trying to drive on the north side of the city … Doash and mike lewis and Andrew bird and big matt stifle were all there to dance almost the entire show
Quote of the Day: "it was a meth&breakfast" –butchie of pit er pat
5/18 driveday Dose:well we slept till morning was no more…and I woke to edit (inside)theExitingARMtour video footage….we bounced out a few more behind the scenes cornucopias….and then went out to lunch with theo from locks…. We talked life, cancer, age, fear, and friends…. Then we went to see ironman….so that Patrick could have his life to himself for a half day on tour….so he hung with his pets and woman…while we enjoyed ironman…
Must say, one of the best comic to movie transitions yet, well freaked tie ins to modern day….good portrayal of the fine character behind his ironness…up their with hell boy…
Then we put the pedal to the medal, and headed toward flint Michigan, where we will slumber in a motel6, and then cross the border into Canada the next morning….
Jel: Rt.94 has consistently been under construction since I can remember…
Quote of the Day: "I let it loose on strings" – a drunk&genuine subtlefan at 3am
5/19 Toronto Dose:well we hit the border in the early hours….all went swell…where things usually remain perpetually difficult to navigate correctly…there was Canadian politeness….and some stiffened questions about the nature of our music…to which we always reply…. It's artraprock for cops….. So we stopped at rest stop for lunch, and a very greyed gentlemen with a cane, who was getting cheeseburgers with his mother….he say 60 and she say 78….began to strike up a conversation with jeff, upon seeing me whip out the old george washingtons at the cash register….by the time I order and butt in on the conversation, he is going on about the "world one day eating itself"…I then notice there is a skull on his cane, so I say "nice cane", to which he replys, "you know its not a skull….he has eyes flesh and a grin…its from Venezuela….as he walks off…
Then some ten minutes later as we are eating our fast food quickly, he strolls up again, and says, "hey I know how it is, here is my information, if you ever need a place to stay in the Toronto area let me know….", he then says, I also wrote down the name of the best strip club in town, they have 50 real women, who give nice slow lap dances"…to which we all dropped our jaws, and just blinked…. We all get awkward, and he starts to leave, but before he does…he holds up another piece of card bored, and it says…"rehab is for quitters"….he then gets his mom, and they leave….end of true story….
We invented a new game, called "the DrawthePromoterGame", All of us skectched what we thought the promoter would look like on the back of our bob evans menus….the winner will receive 20 dollars….there was an additional 10 dolalr prize for drawing the sound man correctly….can't wait to see who wins…
Jel: Buck 65 filmed us talking about the lost North American Adonis album he dose and I had qorked on almost 10 years ago…while all the Canadians in toronto were shooting off fire works for the queen of England, who I think is dead now?
Quote of the Day: "rehab is for quitters" – bob
5/20 Montreal Dose: And the winner was Patrick…..by a soft long shot…. And somehow I won the soundguy portion of the contest, by drawing a carrot with long hair….
We pulled into montreal, and all had coffee, as we scaled the stairs of la sala rosa… Had a nice meal, and got to see brian, one of our favorite promoters on the planet… The show was good, not as packed as it could have been, but we played like new gang members, full of spit and wreckless…great show in all…. We also had dosh and mike lewis get on stage with us, and skronk….it was formless and fun ridden…. Then we went back to our dear friend phillip's house, and fell into our respective comas….
Jel: sala rosa was amazing …the first best food experience of the tour…bumped into mike lewis and martin dosh which has been frequent in the last month ..they rocked on an improve encore…which was amazing... and then they danced until the bartenders kicked them out ….
Quote of the Day: "you're a raging alcholic" –borderguard to dosh
5/21 Boston Dose:well we hit the u.s. border twas a breeze….and we rolled for what seemed like a brief eternity into boston….where we met up with the blackmoth mosse…..it was great to see them all again, as we acclimated to oneanothers human paces and humor senses….
Opening for us was a band we had all never heard of…called "tiger diplomat"…or "republican tiger"…..and they were going to be on letterman the next night…..which us and theMoth found very amuseing… My kid sister who is 13, came, and we enjoyed kicking it side by side, watching bands, she also got to see me sign autographs and deal with all things front person, while not on stage…which felt good, I can only imagine how she invisions my life style….a nice fan gave her a fork bracelt…. Then while my sister and I were watching tiger communism, she leans over to me and says, "I think most of the harmonics are coming off the laptop"…and I nearly shit my slacks…that's my girl….
My NEWmomma and papa were in full effect, and we put on a pretty chest stretching show…
I also got to have a great conversation between my dad, myself, and chris dahlen….where my dad was recapping his day, which consisted of talking to warren ellis, who is writeing the new gi.joe movie script….and my dad, working for Hasbro has the dubious job of relaying corporate changes to the wild-hero mind of warren ellis….so loosly put, warren had responded to said changes by saying "if I'd have known I'd be working for the fucking man, I wouldn't have taken the job….which was great…ellis, calling my dad, who actually burnt his draft card, the f-ing man, over a script about war time toys….irony compounded…
Jel: adams fam was there and always make the night more interesting as usual…the openers where black moth super rainbow..and Republic Tigers…who were prepping to play the David letterman show the next day ..i was excited for them..very nice dudes from KC MO.
Quote of the Day: "I like electronica" – U.S. borderguard
5/22 Philadelphia Dose: Ahhh philly, we drove for another brief eternity….and eventually pulled in, not late to philly, where we played a new club…Johnny brendas, in fishtown, which was just hood when I lived in philly…its all gentrified to a t now…. The venue was great and people were peaches…..and our new friend Michael from ghengistron came down to the show…. He brought me the dope as ghengistron hoodie I was drooling over at their merchbooth….which I was all lil'girl geeked about… So while the show was fun, the stage was small and the opener had a shit ton of gear…. Which made changeovers, rather hellish, but we survived…in all respects… Place was packed, and people were happy…blackmoth headlined, and it became obvious to me, that the subtle blackmoth audience, really liked eachother…and could share appreciatiuon for our not dis-similar honest mans music, as easily as we the bands could share headlineing….
Really felt good, and then we were done…and dealt to slumber….
Jel: Philly was cool new venue black moth rocked the headliner proper..
Quote of the Day: "money racks" –House Pool Rules at JohnnyBrenda's
5/23 NYC Dose: Today was one of the best days on tour I have ever had…. It began with too little sleep unfortunately, but by 11am, I was at NPR, Where I was doing an interview, and they also liked my idea of reading from theOughtAlmanac of AmassedFact Vol.I…. The folks there were splendid, each of them a different sort of young, interesting, and interested….and it seemd like my less than predictable nature was greatly appreciated…. So the interview went great, I even got in my, talking like a written poem zone a few times….and then the readings went perfect…no stammering, or under read lines…. It was wholely perfect…
Then, through a rather odd ..sequence of events, they asked me to battle, another of their radio personalities, who they were saying sound like me, or I like him….a vocalganger
So they got 45 seconds of beat….and then brought him in…and I proceeded to MC miraslov him…with no mercy….it was a blast, at one point I looked up, and every NPR employee at work that day, was on the otherside of the sound proof glass, knee slapping and laughing…
Then we went to the knit, where peter aguston now works, who is truly on my short list of most beautiful people, we have known him since the tape tradeing days of the late 90's….he is both peer and pal…. So all felt homey…. And an old friend billyjam came to host his radio show and broadcast live from the front bar of the knit…. He was great, so between soundcheck and merchbitch duties, I popped out and did an interview with him…. Since I have been freestyling again with the kids in oakland at YMR, I told billyjam,I'd bust over beats….he then brought out two ny white rappers, for me to battle, so I proceeded to strip them from their raps in front of everyone….it was unexpected and hysterical….really had a blast, it was like slapping around a step-child…. I was glkad they were at least freestyling…nothing worse than cheaters…except maybe shingles…
Then the night came alive….we sold the place out…. Tunde adebimpe, another of my perfect people shortlisters, showed up, and we all laughed with the moth members back stage, and rejoiced….
The show itself was perfect…jel killed it, the moth was splendid, and we laid waste…. And tunde came up and sang deathful with us….brightnight….
Jel: Peter Auguston is the man..billy jam is the man..we sold the show out ..i played a great opening set ..BMSR killed it ….the peek of the tour.
Quote of the Day: "danger mouse produced a black keys record, what did he do hold the harmonicas" –no one said this, I just can't believe this really happened, blues thieves unite….they should have had Carla from cheers on it…
5/24 Washington D.C. Dose: D.C…..what a hole….our venue is good now, rock and roll café….but this town just seems sick to me….cocaine faced, and half lifed…..maybe I am trippin, but I tend to be a pretty good judge of the "fight or fright" energy layn latent in cities….
My incredibly cute cousins came…teenagers now,its always wonderful to play for them, and share with them the same truths I share with all these nice music appreciators night after night…
Show was good,it was great to see our new Danish friends again, and see how the states have been treating them….they were all in one piece, and still just as loveable as ever… I tried to help them reconcile with the obvious in DC…that it is somehow the home and hub of the Whiteman…yet its inhabitants are predominantly black folks…I was trying to relay how deeply American this was….
Tom moth and I sat down and talked music, and about what we might one-day make together….which is very exciteing, I havenm't worked with…not jel…on a record in an eon….and tom is gold hearted… So after the festivities, we said bye, to the moth and the klang…and the slara…and hit the higway….
Jel: rockin roll hotel…very fun …communist back stage..they also have a stuffed animal crain game in the upstairs bar….a dollar a game…fucking rrip off.
Quote of the Day: "anybody want this muscle shirt, the promoter gave to me"-tom moth
5/25 driveday Dose:today sucked a bit….so boreing….beautiful bullshit…..and marginal xm radio…. It was nice however to rest my tiny throat, give it a night off of the mountain top…first in 7 days…..we ate at cracker barrel for dinner….jeff had sex with two sweedish twin bloggers at the truck stop….
Jel: ahhhh the south …
Jordan:
Quote of the Day: "then a bus hits a washed up Hollywood has been and knocks her cancer-wig off, and into a muddy puddle" –xm redneck comic
5/26 Atlanta Dose:well the drunk unicorn on a Monday, memorial day….it was kind of quiet…. That being said, the folks that showed, 50 percent of them drove an excess of four hours to be at the show…. its lovely to still have these kinds of shows…where the gravity between us and the audience is so specific, and intense, all of them driving as far as us to see eachother….i will miss this if it ever disappears….
And the show was good, drunk unicorn sound was actually above par, which was unusual….
And one of the openers, supreme, was diet spank rock….two black dudes and a whiteboy…and they said "nigga" left and right…but the whiteboy, would omit it from his backups….really resoundingly wak…and as the world knows, I am not one to out and out wak-call shit….but this coke rap, hipster shit makes me wanna just serve fools into a coma….
That being typed, I was laughing a lot while watching them…. I had a number of wonderful conversations with very fine subtle appreciators, really made my night….
Only bummer was EATS was closed….
Jel: The drunken unicorn spawned the first cipher session of the tour with dose and white night and possie…luckily for me I had greens liquer store right across the street …nothing but Paulaner weiss beer for 1.89 a bottle…yes I had entered Weiss City early that day..
Quote of the Day: "your huge in our heads"-steven(a subtle appreciator from Ncarolina)
5/27 BatonRouge: Dose: Redstick baby….all up in the Spanish moon…it is always a pure pleasure to see aaron&miles…nobody does it better….in fact aaron was already on tour with us…chiming in perfectly on all our inside jokes…nice to have the synergy, of the people who actually book and invite you to town, are the most excited to see you…
All was warm, and we drank and ate and made merry….miles beat the whole band in pool….and laugh was in the air….
In soundcheck we recorded "pig song"….for one of our (inside)theExitingARMtour shorts….and it exceeded our silly hearted expectations in every way…oink…
Our opener…noone….was actually quite the rap spitter, I was very impressed, technicly a ninja….i am excited to check out his record…
Our set was good, we had fun, got all crazy with the alcohol powered set… Cut loose on a few things,….i also tried to make the crowd spell "steven tyler is a dyke", but it really didn't fly, it was two words too many….but it was well worth pushing the bounds of crowd participatory spelling….
Jel; The Haunted Spanish Moon …the Best owner promoters…the best looking bar staff by far …all beautifull people….great baton rouge quizene as always..and free pool ..
Quote of the Day:"poorly paced handjob, now that's a good band name" –dose
5/27 austin Dose:HOT….air is hot in south….thick on your skin…like a gauze of higher temperatures surround you….must be what it feels like to be a cat in the summer time…hair all the way up to your eye lids lip….HOT…. Well we played at new digs tonight…the Mohawk…appropriate for obvious reasons…and it was outdoors…. And./…we loved it….nothing personal to emo's buyt I have been going there for 9 years….over it…. So Mohawk felt great, as did our new entirely open Austin audience….
This tour has marked a few things…most prominently, the conversion of major cities, which have always given us a semi-warm welcome….NYC, boston and Austin all felt like hometowns on this tour….can't knock that, it is the small success that spread the widest in our chests….
Blessed are the interested….
Jel; the mo hawk is a great venue …we tripled our guarentee…adam smacked a thief in the front row….
Quote of the Day: "black moses needs 40 badly" –dose
5/27 Driveday Dose:OMGROYGBIVHBOJOB….this drive is fucking long….20 hours in a day and a half….it began at the whole foods megalopolis in austin and ended in a motel6 in tempe….
I edited the "jel&hisPig" reel, and we all laughed hard as inmates…. Other noteable things….daniel tosh…..i won a peterpan doll for jeff at two am in the claw grabber machine….we immediately made him a child prostitute, by removing his shirt, and installing a used vagina in him…
We had no interaction with texas cops….and that is a beautiful thing…
We ate at appleby's, and thought about how integral that applebees was to the social lives aof all those in somewhere Arizona…and that was a little depressing….
We got into to the hotel dumb from driving…I counted money and bounced files, while the boys slept…
Jel; drive ..drive…drive…I don't have a licence…
Quote of the Day:"buttsex is a lot like spinach, if its forced on you as a child, your going to hate it as an adult" –daniel tosh
5/30 LA Dose:its 9am….shit is full of sun….the desert is clicking with all its small death, and thirsty things…. We began the morning with some "whodini" and talked politics on the coming subtle European tour, and tours in general…. We then hit waffle house, where they were in the midst of the annual holiday season counterfit twenties barrage….everytime they would get a 20, they would hand it to the chef…older white lady, who would then inspect it while burning bacon at the same time…
Then we sat still till LA happened….
While getting coffee, I noticed an out of work spiderman impersonator sitting in the gutter cross the street, on a duffle bag, spitting blood into the gutter with his mask off and costume on….i then asked the barrista if this was an everyday sight, she said …"yes, at least he's nice, elmo doen't even tip…and he lives off tips"….and I somehow thought about how I too live off tips…and I tipped her…
The show was great, all our l.a. based family was in attendance…we left it all on stage…and for the first time in the history of me touring, I still had a falsetto on the last day of tour…
Another first was subtle members made more money than Patrick our soundguy… Not by much, but it's the little things that count…
And so we headed home…our ARM's off and given to the people that care for them most…
Our skulls on grin, and rent monsters in check…
Thanks world…for what we have….
Jel; La is soo fucking awsoom!!!!..no for real ..i am so fucking at home there …the kids kick ass the people on Hollywood boulivard are all fucking hot and probably more famous then any one I know… uughh I fucking want to be in LA!!!!
Quote of the Day:"Last show in Europe…" – the whole band, in huddle, before the show…
