Two years ago, George Bush's veto threat stopped the Matthew Shepard Act. And every six hours of every day since then, someone has been violently attacked for being lesbian, gay, bisexual or transgender.

We cannot afford to wait two more years to pass this bill. That's why HRC is rolling out an organizing, media, and lobbying campaign.

But we need to raise $120,000 before the week is out to help fund this critical work.

Join HRC before the fiscal deadline TONIGHT, and help pass this landmark legislation.

In early December, Jose Sucuzhañay, a real estate broker and father of two, was attacked by a gang of men in Brooklyn. They beat him to death with a baseball bat while yelling anti-Hispanic and anti-gay slurs. He had been walking arm-in-arm with his brother, huddling against the cold.

Just days later, near San Francisco, four men attacked a woman with a rainbow sticker on her car, taunted her for being a lesbian, drove her to an abandoned building and brutally raped her, leaving her naked on the street.

We must give local law enforcement the tools they need to investigate and prosecute these heinous crimes. Help us raise $120,000 to fight for the Matthew Shepard Act.

ok, this type of stuff is scary. when I read about the woman with the rainbow sticker on her car, I thought of my No On 8 bumper sticker and my 4 year-old son, who is often in the car with me. kind of makes me want to take the sticker off, all these months later.

Do not let the fear conceal them from sight! Wear your colors and wear them proud! It is time to take a stand!

And there are people out there who justify this type of hateful behavior. Well, I'm not backing down. I'm not removing my stickers, flags, any other queer identifier. And if they wanna come with the bats, they better bring a lunch and a bunch of friends. I don't die easy.

I have been hearing about how it's been going bad for LGBTs.
Now is the time for this to stop once and for all! This time it shall succeed! The MSA will pass!

I live in a small Indiana town and I display my HRC stickers both on my car and my front door. Most often I get asked what they mean, it gives me a good chance to explain the mission of HRC.

Yeah, my friend April tells me I should be a representive for Gay Rights. She's seen me go from being terminated from work from false allegations by a coworker when I worked with her. Later the lady admitted she made the acuisations due to her religious beliefs about gays. Every since employment there we've been friends. I later got a job working for the California Dept of Corrections. I was attacked during the Academy (Union turned it around on me) and later weeded out for termination a month before my probation was over. They questioned my sexuality throughout my employment and as I was weeded out, I kept getting the message that it was coming from the top. I sued them and won my case. Lately i was terminated at-will from a job. After the owner found out I was gay she treated me different and bi-passed me for multiple promotions. After my termination an employee admitted he had overheard a conversation by the General Manager about promoting me. An employee asked why don't they make me the manager due to my seniority and prior experience as manager. She said, "Oh no, (owner of the company name) would never have that. He's homosexual. We have to hire those people but we don't have to promote them." I was also attacked in the past by about 10 guys while protecting my ex from being descriminated against by a group of youth. The officer did not want to take my statement (complaint) but i demanded he do. That happened in Redlands, Ca.
