We closed Thursday at 1 pm. By 4 pm the kids had picked their rooms and we're hanging out in them listening to MP3s. I know, antisocial tween & teen before we even more in!
There are gorgeous hardwood floors in pristine condition under the 60s-era mustard yellow carpet in the living room, hallway, & 2 of the bedrooms. In one bedroom part of the floor was removed for work years ago and not replaced. No biggie - we'll match the wood as well as we can. Until then, DD says she wants carpet. Black carpet & lilac walls. DS wants royal blue walls & an area rug.
The kitchen has laminate & the dining room has the most gawd awful linoleum (late 1960s pattern). We're thinking of putting tile in both rooms but haven't decided.
All of the walls are white except in the kitchen. And oh man, the kitchen walls. They're covered in a dreamy brown & white stripped paper. And that paper is covering an even dreamier 60s typical kitchen wallpaper pattern. You know, lots of brown, orange, and gold. Dreamy.
Stripped paint off of one of the kitchen cabinet doors - gorgeous birch in perfect condition! We won't need new ones! Yeah! We're still deciding on what type of counter tops, but are thinking of going with a solid laminate we saw last week if we can't find the granite we like at a good price.
Mom bought us the appliances of our choice as a housewarming gift. Why? Because we saved her the expense and hassle of a wedding. (Woohoo on eloping) Don't care why, really, just blown away.
On Friday we took care of the water, gas, and electricity. We'll take care of DirecTV, phone, & net as we get closer to our final move.
The yard is just screaming for a firepit, friends, & family. But not too many people cause you all know I'm a hermit. I'll jut take the laptop & cam out so you can join me for a chat.
