This article is meant to put a face on a situation that I've unfortunalty recently experienced. It is generalized a bit, but was inspired by a tough break-up of a relationship of 3.5 Years!

Girls that have boyfriends are often lead down a bad path by their single girl-friends. They are given bad advice and are lead to believe that the single life is great! These selfish friends do whatever is necessary in order to get their friends to be single like they are. They paint their boyfriends out to be the devil. They encourage them to do bad things like cheat and end their relationships. After all, misery loves company. I would like to tell you what this reminds me of. This very much reminders me of The Pleasure island scene from Pinocchio.

Pleasure Island is a fictional amusement park (New York City) from Pinocchio. Located in the fictional land of Cocagne (New York State), Pleasure Island serves as a haven for wayward boys (single girls), allowing them to drink, smoke, and vandalize (cheat) without recrimination. However, the true purpose of Pleasure Island is eventually revealed as the boys (girls) gradually begin to physically transform into donkeys. These animals are then sold for hard labor, dooming the boys (girls) to a lifetime of misery, backbreaking work, and harsh treatment.

The segment from Pleasure Island is, like much of Pinocchio, a tale of morality. The boys (girls) who are taken to the island go voluntarily with the promise of fun (dating) and unlimited freedom (being single). While on the island, the children (girls) are encouraged to commit acts of vandalism (cheat), fight, drink alcohol, smoke cigars, and gamble - all things that good little boys (girls) are not supposed to do.

The transformation into a donkey is not instantaneous. When boys (girls) arrive on the island, they remain human for some time before showing any signs of change. The first indication is braying replacing the boy's (girls) normal laughter, followed by the growth of donkey ears and a tail. The head, and extremities come next, after which the boy (girl) is then forced into a quadrupedal stance (walking on all 4's). The final notable change is losing the ability to speak. Before the donkeys leave Pleasure Island, they are checked to make sure they have lost their ability to vocalize, which signifies they are fully transformed.

In Conclusion: Don't let this happen to you. Follow your own conscience. Think for yourself and don't allow yourself to be lead down a bad path by others with self-serving motives. The grass always seems greener and consequences aren't always obvious at first. Stick with the guy who loves you. Be a Lady...not a Donkey!
