If the
cold weather is making you pine for the summer and the multitude of music
festivals that abound, then let Hull Film and Sabrini’s Bar and Café bring a
bit of rhythm to your soul with two documentaries that explore some of the most
influential innovators of music. And what’s more, you want have to wait ages

After
Hull Film’s praised seasonal screening cult band The Flaming Lips’ movie Christmas
On Mars, Hull Film will give audiences the opportunity to find out the
truth behind the twisted geniuses of music in the documentary THE FEARLESS
FREAKS. Director Bradley Beesley follows the band from their early days as
lead singer Wayne Coyne deals with fame, the drug habits of some of his band
members and his desire to surf the crowd in a large plastic bubble. A brilliant
– and sometimes uncomfortable – examination of the disparate personalities that
make up one of the most unique rock bands in the world that will prove an eye
opener for dedicated fans of the band and a revelation for music fans in
general and includes cameos from the likes of Juliette Lewis, The White Stripes
and Cristina Ricci. The Fearless Freaks (USA, 2005, 100 mins) will
screen on Monday 19th January at 7pm, Sabrini’s Bar and Café and
entry is free Please note that the film
contains adult scenes and is suitable for over 18s only. You can find out more
about the movie at http://www.fearlessfreaks.com/.

Then on
Tuesday 10th February, those who enjoy doing it by themselves will
get the respect they deserve with a screening of ONE MAN IN THE BAND. One-man
bands. Showmen, eccentrics, loners. But whatever you do, don't call them
buskers. Adam Clitheroe's new feature documentary is a funny and moving
portrait of contemporary musicians who play as one-person acts. For them, music
just sounds so much better when you make it all alone. It’s a documentary that
manages to raise a smile whilst displaying real warmth for its characters that
will inspire and delight in equal measure.
One Man In The Band (....UK...., 2008,
83 mins) will screen on Tuesday 10th February at ..7pm.., Sabrini’s Bar and Café and
entry is free. Please note that the film is suitable for over 18s only. You can
