Hull Film is delighted to announce that it will hold an exclusive screening Martin Radich’s inventive and experimental feature film CRACK WILLOW on Tuesday 27th January at Hull Screen. The film is a bold and often disturbing tale of a man who struggles with death and loneliness as we follow him on a journey that is both an intimate examination of family life and a kaleidoscopic explosion of dark and twisted imagery.....

.. ..

The film is the debut of talented director Martin Radich who Hull Film aficionados will know after he won the 2008 GLIMMER Best UK Short Award sponsored by Hull Trains for his beautiful and challenging film Dog’s Mercury. His uncompromising and unique style is used to its fullest effect in a film that, after it’s screening at the Edinburgh International Film Festival, was described by The Scotsman as containing scenes of “…sustained, freaked-out, demented terror that ranks alongside the best of David Lynch for its ability to ratchet up an atmosphere of sheer dread.”....

Hull Film director Laurence Boyce said:....

“At Hull Film we are passionate about brining audiences a wide and varied selection of films that will push the boundaries of their expectations and redefine their ideas of what cinema can be. It’s great that we can be one of the first few people in the country to let them see Crack Willow a film that – whilst it may not be for everyone – shows that UK filmmaking is as bold and exciting today as it ever was. We’re also excited to be following the career of a director whose work we admire and have supported in previous years in GLIMMER, the Hull International Short Film Festival and hope that this is the first of many brilliant feature films from Martin.”....

Crack Willow is funded by Warp Films, a company that has created some of the most exciting pieces of British film making in the last five years. It has won numerous plaudits and awards (including three BAFTAs) since being set up in 2002 with film such as Dead Man’s Shoes, This Is England and Paddy Consindine’s debut short Dog Altogether (screened during GLIMMER 2008). Warp Films' development slate currently includes projects with directors Shane Meadows, Chris Morris, Chris Cunningham, Richard Ayoade, David Slade and Lynne Ramsay.  You can find out more about Warp Films by going to www.warpfilms.com....
