I had mentioned earlier that I wouldn't be posting anymore of these profile view milestones until I hit 10,000. Well, apparently the BGO was decent enough of an attention grabber to do it. So, yay us!
I admit, 10,000 hits is probably small potatoes for most of the Myspace bands out there. Those visionary road warriors who work and bleed for their craft, building up their fan base one cynical concert goer at a time. A style of living that clearly, I'm nowhere near. Still, 10,000 is no number to scoff at either. From this humble page, the BGO managed to build up a collection of good artists, great friends, and a few fabulous podcasters willing to give us some play. This is a good number, one that I'm pretty excited to have around.
So what will the next milestone be? I honestly have no idea. Those of you intrepid listeners may have noticed that I've been spending significantly less and less time here. And the reality is that this trend will only continue.
I could feed many excuses for my absence, difficult work schedules, the continuation of my education, tight finances and hard times......all which sound real impressive. These are all defintely factors, but the real reason I must admit, is that I'm just tired. The last couple years were a hard push to be creative and a good promoter of my collective goods, and in the process I forgot what it was like to have fun making this stuff. So, I did the only sensible thing I could think of, which was to back off, and sample a bit of life outside of musicality.
It's been a good thing.
So, you may be wondering, with your favorite lovable scamp, The Boogie Man out wandering the world, will there ever be a second coming of the BGO? The short answer is that I'm pretty certain there will be. I've still got a second album I'm sitting on, that only needs a bit more work and willingness to get done. Beyond that, who knows? I may bow out gracefully or I might get my teeth back. Too much on my plate to say for certain. But, as things come out of the woodwork, I'm sure you folks will be the first to hear them.
As for music in general, there are things happening. I have been picking up instruments recently and making a little noise. Not sure what'll it'll turn out to be in the end, but I do know it'll be something different.
So, the winds of fate and the hands of people with keyboards will be doing more controlling of this page than I will for the time being. But I am still infinitely grateful to have gotten this far. And for those of you who have stopped by and liked what they heard, and especially to those who kept coming back for more, you have my sincere thanks.
