This is Omar Waqar:
I'm writing this to try to explain why we decided to disband diacritical. The past few months have been a struggle for us, We have tried to hold things together but we couldn't. When diacritical's drummer Dan left the group my friends wanted to help me keep the band together. So they worked hard and tried to learn the songs that where on the record. They where not even on the record but they tried anyway. They put up with my mood swings and i love them for that. But i feel as though i am burned out on this project. Most people don't know this but trying to get this project together has been years in the making. I first started dreaming this up in 2002. I tried numerous times to form a band and i finally after endless trying got a line up that worked. But as the project evolved and individual members of the band changed and got frustrated with my relentless pursuit of songwriting, i felt like my friends, my band mates where beginning to resent me. We had been playing shows up till this point and fumbling through and we just got fed up with rehearsing the same songs i had been playing for years. We felt as though it's time for us to do something fresh and new and start with a new slate. Plus the other members of my band all kind of had there own ideas about what they want to do. It seems as though we are all going in very different directions. So we figured better to disband now then to face loosing friends over a dumb argument. Hopefully people will listen to what we where saying in these songs and get it. I personally hope that people read my lyrics and judge me on the messages of peace, alienation and frustration that i was trying to send. Not on what people say.
I want to take this opportunity to thank everyone i can think of who helped me out with this project over the years:
