Things are in such a state of transition right now that entire new business models are going to have to arise or we will all be out of work. The general attitude towards the importance of the arts and music in particular is really going down the tubes. When Radiohead made their new album available with a "pay what you think it's worth" system, 60% of the people who downloaded it didn't pay anything at all and 15% paid less than $6. People want the music for free, they want into the shows for free and the bottom line is that unless things change somehow, most artists and musicians won't be able to AFFORD to continue to make music.

man...thats HORRIBLE!....are those stats true??...damn!!!....thats sooooooo not cool....i sypathize...but its not all fans....in fact, are the people who you described even fans??!....i mean...damn...when they go to whatever job that they have, they expect to be paid...whether they love or hate it.....but...like i said...its not all of us....i can only speak for me....and i have ALOT of music...cd's,albums,dvd's,etc....and i'm pretty proud to say...i paid for everything...and i think you DESERVE it(the money,royalties,and all things that come with)...i'm sick of the record co.'s promoting this....for lack of a more ugly term...SHIT...pre-packed,pre-thought out,safe,"PRODUCT"....what happened to music?...what happened to passion?...what happened to spontaneity??...what happened to music being played with soul and heart??...there are LOTS of people with ALL those qualities(junkyard,you.. to name 2)...but they are NOT being "promoted"..or even signed..damn...i am not steve vai,or some "super technical" player....but brother...i love to PLAY...i love LISTENING..but...didn't the ramones or pistols show us that all you really need to have is the passion and love of music to wanna play??and to DO it!... but...sad fact is.....that passion can't...and won't ,feed you when you're hungry...or buy diapers for the baby....but,brother...it ain't all of us......
