The Canary In Full Effect
Well folks, its been a while since we last blogged and of course we have missed you and hope the feeling is mutual.
It's that time of year again when America becomes seemingly facetious and celebrates the morbidly malicious intent of a certain seaman, though not the sort to be celebrated in the pro creational abyss of the human race, but one who should be, shall we say, properly realized for his murderously barbarian ways.
To impart these facts upon you we see fit to post a five minute clip from our documentary, The Canary Effect, which explains the ins and outs of the worryingly hitlerian similarities of this brutish brat. So feel free to distribute this clip about Columbus and his ventures as you so wish.
On top of that a little side note, the title of the movie refers to a quote from the 1950's by a man named Felix Cohen. The premise behind the title is that the American Indian represents the weakest point of the societal infrastructure of the USA. Like the tiny lungs of the canary in a coal mine, it is this which will buckle first and should be a warning of what's to come to the, as yet seemingly unaffected mine.
In recent times we have seen the economy take a tremendous dive and if the above proclamation is true then the state of the American Indian population should be a good indication of future times for the wider reaching corners of society.
And what is the position of the American Indian you ask, well, 80% unemployment, 25% Alcohol dependency, a failing health care, educational and law enforcement system and increased homelessness. An average age of death 20 years younger than the rest of society, an increased suicide rate (up to 10 times greater than the rest of America) and a burgeoning crime rate.
In this time of electioneering and proclamations of change, just remember the adage that you are only as strong as your weakest link. Maybe it is at this point that we see the true crumbling effect of building a country on open check books, sliding faults and unprotected coasts, and realize that stealing assets and spinning truths does have a shelf life, and and no matter what you do, reality has a funny way of catching up to you.
Or maybe we should just continue this patriotic trend and ignore all warning signs and pretend that its really unlikely that McCain will succumb to a crippling illness so that Palin is left to run the country, or that Barack's complexion and kennedy inflected retroactive stance will in no way lead to assassination attempts, paving the way for whatever the name of his proposed number 2 is to take poll position of the... ah hum... free world. Now how much did everybody's mortgage payments just increase?? time for drinks we thinks lets try and meet that 25% quota and show true progress.
