Being a songwriter/musician here in Freehold, NJ is not a easy task ....you have a tough act to follow....especially if you are woman. This area is saturated with male musicians. Some of these famous men are influences in my music either directly or indirectly. Yesterday the music world lost a talented musician. Being from Freehold 'EVERYONE KNOWS THE FEDERICI FAMILY" For god sakes...my son is in school with 2 of them. But when we got the news that Danny Federici died yesterday you can't help but think of life everlasting and the legacy you leave this world with. Especially as a musician.
Over coffee this morning my husband (LE member) and I discussed Danny's death and the effect it has on the so-called "BRUCE LIFE" here in this neck of Jersey. As a band leader myself...I could only imagine what The Federici Family, Mr. Springsteen and the rest of Danny's bandmates are feeling like today. The hours you spend with your band mates and their families. Rehearsing...creating....arguing......laughing.....sleeping........holidays....kids playing together.......driving for hours in the car with these people.....They become YOUR FAMILY. As some the famous musicians of my era drop off ....I can't help but think and write about it. Mr. Federici brought life to Mr. Springsteen's music....shared many a stage with many other musicians. Influenced and supported other musicians and did his part to contribute to American Music...maybe not right in your face (most likely behind the scenes)now when I listen to Mr Springsteen and the E Street Band I can't help but think of the ways Danny brought the sounds of the Jersey Shore to American Rock and Roll....standing there right behind "THE BOSS".
I am sure there will be many comments and such with regards to Mr. Springsteen's friend....but he was Danny Federici....the guy that brought the Jersey Shore sound to Mr.Springsteen's music.
